Lakaka did more in those 20 minutes on the pitch than Dzeko did since January that season. The only problem is that Lakaka is a choker.

True facts

He wa a poor finisher etc in his appearance but he got into dangerous positions and took some solid shots. He is a choker so we will never know what would have happened, but even looking back on it, I'd rather have had him play longer, he may have got his "eye" in and landed one, or completely potatoes all 90 min

Lakaka did not only miss that free-header - he fucked up in other parts of the game aswell. Brehme explained it very well - There was a chance where lakaka just had to run into space, but he kept jogging along all the while the Man City defender ran to block the passing channel. Otherwise his teammate could pass lakaka the ball so he just had to tap it in an empty net.

Lukaku is a loser who needs too much attention from everyone to play well. In that season we simply were better when Dzeko played because he's a smart player.

It is indeed useless to make claims we could have done any better if Lukaku started. We did what we did when Dzeko played and we did what we did when Lukaku played. I can see the point of Inzaghi starting Dzeko so we can play our game, and then bring in Lukaku later to make something happen, perhaps against tired opponents.

Well, he didn't make much of anything, but managed to miss a fucking empty netter in a CL final. So no, I'm not taking any ifs or buts in this one.

Lukaku has a gift for:

a) blocking goal-bound shots at the worst possible moment for his own team
b) fluffing multiple chances in elimination/final games for his team both club & country
c) scoring the winning goal of a European final...for the opposing team

At some point, it stops being bad luck. The guy is the exact opposite of clutch, at least for the team he's playing for.
That’s the reason I wanted him to start the match. If he has a stinker pull him off. Don’t put him in during crunch time.

He also was confident at that time, in good shape, good form, and dating Megan The Stallion. Stars were aligned, him not starting fucked with him so much mentally he started flirting with Juve just to spite Inzaghi.

He started contacting Juve back in March so well before the final.
