I want to believe the Zapata rumours are smokescreen for another target. Else, Marotta has lost his mind after dealing with all this mess.
Exactly. Like Bellerin and Zappacosta and all the other "noise".

I have hope that Zapata is just smokescreen and lots of news saying we only get 40 mio budget is just smokescreen from Marotta so other clubs will not milking us. Please God, is that too much to ask?
+1. Marotta is more responsible than paying 40m for Zapata.

repubblica - Inter want Zapata in the next 48h, offer is 30M+bonuses. The player has an agreement, but Atalanta still dont wanna sell cause of no replacement.

I would have been relatively okay with stop gap Zapata for 30m to keep us something like competitive short term, If we would have not brought in super stop gap Dzeko. Oh, and if we already didn't have bloody ancient Sanchez. Age structure of our attack is going to utter hell.

I prefer 10 million loan and 25 million option on him. Dude is 30
And been bad everywhere but Atalanta….

also agree on the Dzeko thing. It should have been one or the other not both

yeah another Martinez to built our attack for the next *undisclosed* years, while Sanchez, Džeko and midfielders like Sensi and Hakan are our other options in attack

30m for Zapata is a great deal. Hope it happens. Dare I say, we would have a fantastic roster overall with this. The only thing stopping this team from a top 2 place next season would be the fact that our coach hasn't finished this high yet.

Tbh 30 million doesn't sound so bad. Hope we get him for that amount. Dzeko would be a good sub for him and for Lautaro we would have Alexis. If we had crazy money like City, PSG and so on I would love to get a new sub for Lautaro (Correa), but with those 4 we should be good enough.

30 is no old man, remember that guy called Milito? He was around that age when he joined us, too :sneaky:

Just wrap the deal up as soon as possible. Forza Duvan!

My concern with Zapata is that his goals have been going the opposite way. Scoring less every year. How many times are we going to buy a guy right at the end of his prime then be surprised and dissapointed when he turns to shit within 2 years.

Yeah that's the real concern here, his level of performance drops too much. But let's see what our management thinks, they might think it's still worth it, because for the short-term Zapata is of course the best replacement for Lukaku.

Pedulla - Zapata only wants Inter. His salary would be 3.5M + bonuses. Inter would pay 30M + 4 to 5M in bonuses.

I can live with this but where’s the second half of the tweet that goes “Atalanta need to find a replacement first”

All this talk about Zapata, when we really should go for Pancho Villa.

This figure makes Tammy Abraham deal sounds like bargain. I thought Roma overpay for Tammy, but it turns out we are still the best in wasting money. Zapata has years of Serie A experience, but he is the same unknown quantity like Tammy because he thrives in Atalanta. We know that Atalanta are very good at creating the sum more than its parts. Thus Zapata could end up like Gags again where his individual skill is demanded more. I see both of them with roughly similar probability of success, but Tammy's failure will still yield us money while Zapata's failure means another abominable golden handshake.

I don't think Zapata would end up like Gags. Gagliardini was a young man when he played at Atalanta and when he joined Inter. Zapata is a veteran and he's like Lukaku-lite. Tammy is a much bigger risk in terms of output. Zapata is a guaranteed Serie A goal scorer. Even if his goal numbers have dropped each year in Atalanta. Still had lots of assists last season (10), meaning he is directly involved in many of their attacks even if he doesn't finish those attacks.

Buying Zapata means the directors are focusing on securing the short-term future. I'm not sure I agree with that approach but surely understand it if they go with it.

Considering the financial mess at the club, 30+ million for Zapata doesn’t make sense.

If this club is going to sell one big name player every year and replace with older ones than It will not remain competitive in a few years time.
