Zapata is a fantastic player. He's strong, can run at defenders, very involved in build up play, can score, can assist well. He isn't a world beater, but is the one of the more complete forwards out there. Age and money is an issue, but there aren't many good options out there. If he can give 3 15-20 goal seasons, then it would be well spent.

Of course we need another striker (4th). And it would be unfair to expect Zapata to do what Lukaku did. What made Lukaku shine last couple of seasons - and also held us back - are Conte's one dimensional tactics where Lukaku was the focal point of everything. I expect Inzaghi to make us work better with more threats than just hoof the ball to Lukaku.

Another crucial point for this season is the presence of Calhanoglu. He is more of a goal scoring threat from midfield than we have had in the last 5 seasons.

i can't imagine that Marotta would like to spend +40M for a Zapata. if Inter should make this decision, it's probably not he's fault. Maybe it's a request from Inzaghi or something like that...let's anyway hope they find some other solution, can't really think that were going to make Atalanta this gift.

According to Tuttosport, Atalanta want 50 million for him now :yao:
Tbh that is how you should negotiate for a player you don't want / you can't loose so close to the start of the new season. I hate it that we are always so weak selling our players and do everything the other teams want when buying new players.

I had the big hope that with Marotta everything would change, but it is still the same bullshit.

I am also struggling to believe Marotta wants to spend 40m on Zapata. It's not his style at all. He's notoriously against spending big for 30+ players and he only signs them if the terms are favorable for the club and in this case they certainly aren't. I want to believe the Zapata rumours are smokescreen for another target. Else, Marotta has lost his mind after dealing with all this mess.

I would choose 15M Dzeko anyday of the week than 50M Zapata.

If we are splashing 50M on him, OMG.

Atalanta will sign Belotti for 25M and Tammy for 25M. Inter mudded

exactly.. if Zapata would be good enough to make the diffrence and let us fight for the scudetto, then maybe i woud ignore he's price and age. But getting a 30 year old striker who wasn't that brilliant last season.. i don't know man, i think we should try getting other strikers first. Belotti Jovic or something like that. Someone younger and maybe even better.
Again, Zapata will not make us win the scudetto. So we need to spend on someone for the future at least...

According to Pedulla, there's an agreement in principle with Atalanta over Zapata. Gasperini has also given the green light for the move.

True. I was never a fan of Belotti and i always considered him overrated but i would rather sign him for 20-25m hoping a change of scenery would revive his career than spend 40-50m on Zapata.

Come on people. Zapata >>>> Belotti. And since when did age become that big a deal? We need him to have 3-4 good seasons in him, not 10. Remember getting Milito and Eto'o, who were old as well. And today, fitness has improved a big freaking deal. So many 35+ players rocking out there..

Of course 40m or more is too much. But if we can get him for ~30m, it won't be a bad deal.

Getting 30 years old zapata to replace 28 years lukaku is already dumb. Paying 40-50 million for that is even worst. I dont know whether I should cry or laugh.

Agree with other posters. Not a fan of belotti but getting him who is younger and cheaper is much better than paying 40+ mio for Zapata. Plus he is Italian for whatever its worth

This guy is 31 in 4 months, he is injury prone and failed in every club except Atalanta. Paying over 20 mln for him will be catastrophic.
His birthday is in April so he’s turning 31 in 8 months, not 4. I love how everyone keeps saying he’s 31 already :ROFLMAO:

He'll be 31 when signed by Inter and then get injured and then comeback in 8 months, and then scores a tap in to prove all the haters wrong before getting injured again.

Atalanta better raise their demand up to 60-70mil and build a wall a la Lotito... despite the agreement in principle which is hopefully fake news.

At least he's better than Belotti and Dzeko and some of the other fuckwit names being thrown around, but it's just a shambolic transfer at the rumored price. 30 year old career nobody who only ever performed in Gasp's system. Will undoubtedly be put on massive wages on a contract keeping him here til he's 34/35 years old. To follow up a financially responsible decision of cashing in on Lukaku with a financially negligent decision like this would be unbelievable if it wasn't Inter.
