Why are we replacing Rom with an 30 year old from Atalanta? Why is he the main priority? Can't we try to get an better(and younger) player?

It feels insane to invest so big chunk to a player who has basically played in provincial clubs only. Zapata is a "support" player, not the main carry. Basically with this move we've banking on Lautaro to step up big time. Zapata is the supporting act.

Problem for me is, we're paying way too much for a veteran supporting act player. Takes away a lot of the advantage we generate from Lukaku's big transfer fee. It's just thrown to the garbage bin by overpaying for Zapata by 10-20m€.

Nah I disagree. While there's no question he's a big downgrade from Lukaku, Zapata is still significantly better than a lot of people are making him out to be.

If we sign him though, we're blowing a significant chunk of our earnings on someone who: 1) isn't good enough to lead us to the title anyway, and 2) lacks the positives and promise of a younger star in the making like Vlahovic. I'm personally not as big on resale value as others here but clearly Suning have demonstrated they're willing to sell our stars - therefore resale value should be considered in this case. All the more reason we should be priotising Vlahovic as first preference, not Zapata.

Simply put, €80m for Vlahovic is much better than €40m for Zapata. If it's true that Suning has allocated or will allow for up to €60m outlay, then Marotta needs to make one of those favorable deals like juve got with Chiesa.

I don't know why blame marotta, ausilio or whoever for this. If your budget is 40 mil, of course you are going for zapata, not only coz of his decent record but also for ease of getting him. We all know who is really the one to put blame on...
