I can see him rejecting Villa and accepting our offer. Not really sure if Villa would even offer a better contract than us, actually highly unlikely. I think there's a decent chance we can extend him with our current 4m net offer.

With the Growth Decree on Dumfries applied (still), his 4m net salary is only little over 5m gross, which isn't bad at all.

serie a is the poorest league in top5, very close to L1, some say L1 is the poorest

in most teams top players got 1m net

5m gross is too much for us

Nonsense, just look at the wage structure for Juve, Milan, Roma and Inter. Players in Serie A do get paid well.

we dont have money for transfers
sell before buy
selling top player every year or two
leaking money every year, -80mil a year - 60mil a year and so on

our wage bill is too big, we need cuts, only 5-6 players can have salary like 5m or more

I don't think there are even that many clubs who play their top player 1m net in Italy. But in Serie A, there's probably half of the teams who do that. And in top 5, that figure is probably triple if not more. In top 3 (where Inter definitely is), it's even more, 5m or something.

That gross wage increase to Dumfries would be something like 2m. Not impossible for us I think.

I can see a scenario where he doesn't actually get better offers from abroad and decides to accept our offer. Could be also the agent a bit of same games as Lautaro's, he try to get those better offers to show it to Inter management. I'm guessing Inter management's stance is irrelevant to the offers from abroad.

Big problem when every first team player will ask for 2m increase.

They are human after all. Jealousy is always inside.

Jealousy? You don't think Dumfries deserve a raise from his current 2.5m net salary he got when he signed with us 3 years ago? Has proven he can be a starter for the best club in Italy and won a bunch of trophies in his path to current moment. He's a starter in this team and the average net salary of our starting XI is around 5m if we exclude Dumfries himself, and outlier in Lautaro's new contract

I think our offer is fair for both sides. I don't see problems here as all of our starters are extended like the club wants. De Vrij and Acerbi expiring next summer, Mkhitaryan 2 years from now, these won't be getting pay raises, even if extended later (I'm seeing scenario where De Vrij or Acerbi could get an extension).

I am understanding you mean 2m more than what we are offering, not his current salary, no?

Dumfries deserves a raise, but not worth 5m. If we pay him more than Dimarco then there will be jealousy as the Italian is simply a better player, contributing more to the team.

I do agree our offer is fair. 4m net is already generous comparing to other wingbacks on the market. But if he wants a cent more he can leave.

Ah, it was 2m GROSS salary to his current gross salary. So he makes 2.5m NET now and would make around 4m NET with our proposal. In gross salary terms, the increase would be that 2m (thanks to Growth Decree).

Trust me, he and his agent knew this from the beginning. Those so-called bluffs in demand from his part earlier this year were just that, and probably some kind of attempt to see where he stands. And he quickly found out we don't give a fuck whether he stays or goes, it's one of those rare occasions when that is truly the case.

I still think, on our part, we are waiting for some potential offers, possibly after the euros, before we give him a new deal.

Yeah and I think it's both sides. If EPL club (or maybe Bayern) offers a 5m net salary, he might pick that. This seems to be not too likely at this point but you never know what will happen.

I haven't said he's a core player, where did you get that?

I made a comparison to our starting XI salaries, because that was mentioned. And to me, it's valid that a starter makes 4m net at Inter.

Denzel started more games than Pavard. To me that is the definition of being a core player. I don't like it when we break down starting line up into core and non-core players.
