United just signed Mazraoui, Aston Villa is targeting Geertruid. There goes his destinations.
Aston Villa signed Wan-Bissaka so there's Marotta's 4D chess for him.

Geertruid's contract expires in 2025 so perhaps he can be a solution for next season. Although he was raised by Feyenoord, so he might not walk away like that.

Geertruida is I believe quite defensive. In 3-man defence formation more like RCB than RWB.

WTF... that release clause is too low but I suppose it's a way of extending him and still letting him go next year but not for free.

Obviously Denzel wants that clause because he always want to milk more elsewhere. Right now nobody bites yet.
No worries really. He will never worth more than 4m.

Okay so Ornstein had some intel.

There were no rumors of him leaving this summer, only early summer/spring the United and Villa links were there. To me it looks like he wants to keep his options open but unless he totally takes steps up, no one's going to pay more to him than the 4m we can. 15m release clause sounds a bit too low, hopefully it's closer to that 20m.

Growth decree applies apparently which is nice for sure.

Still better then losing him for free. Even tbh I doubt that there is anyone willing to pay for him 20M€, maybe 15M€, but just maybe.

15-20 m for a 29 yo is a big money i think. but Inter need to integrate Denzel into the first team soon. His stamina and defensive ability can help the team.

Huh? Integrate into the first team? Pretty sure he is i tegrated in the first team

There was this conspiracy theory that he doesn't start games because of his contract situation.

Yeah I don't believe a single second Inzaghi would give a fuck about some contractual situations. That's not his job, and Dumfries was on the bench in our both matches.

I think it's clear what's happening here. You have an extension out of necessity.

Dumfries believes he's worth more than we're offering. But there's no one willing to satisfy his demands right now. He's going to accept our offer only if he has an easy way out in case he receives a better offer next summer.

We're willing to extend him with a low release clause in order to avoid losing him on a free.

Both sides choose to continue together because they have no better choice.

But why would he do that? He'd get more if he was a free agent. Unless management told him that he wouldn't play unless he signs the extensionm

He would secure a contract for the next 3-4 years (I assume that's the term). Serious injury or otherwise bad season would make sure he's not gonna get even similar offer what Inter is offering him now.

It's also benefical for Inter that we would either have him or get something back in a case he wants to leave. This new contract, despite the payraise will actually cost LESS for us in the balance sheet than currently. That is purely because his remaining amortization value is devided over the new contract years. It's brilliant.

I think I saw a post of yours saying that growth decree still applies, how is that the case? I thought they got rid of it this year. Does that mean Pavard is still under growth decree as well?

Yes and yes. It's person related, not contract related.

Pavard is eligible for sure since he arrived last summer when the law was still in place. So he is fully eligible. And as it starts to be eligible only after being Italian tax resident (and continue to be for 5 years) he wasn't eligible last season until year 2024. So this season all his salary is tax reduced thus he's actually cheaper for us this season.

For Dumfries, he is eligible for the next 2 years minimum (he's been here 3 years, max is 5). Also I read they made an exception that if the you've bought a home or have young children, then you're eligible after those 5 years too.
