I don't think Zambrotta is a world class full back.
But that's another discussion for another day.

really? That's interesting. I've always rated him as the best LB in Europe.

Apparently we were linked to him in a swap deal for C.Zanetti a few years ago. If the same deal came up today would you accept or reject? Personally I'd accept.

He's a good left back, but his skills are held back and limited in that position. Take the Inter game for example, his crossing is too good for a left back, but his defending was poor. That's why I believe that he should played further up the ground, perhaps a right or left winger, where he made his mark (being a striker at his first club doesn't count), and thats why I think Capello is so eager to sign Chiellini, he realises this, IMO.

Zambrotta would be a farking unstoppable winger, his crossing is breathtaking, and although he isn't that good of a defender, he could be great cover for say a Miguel (if he is to sign with Juventus) who is such an attacking full back, that just incase he is caught out, Zambrotta could take cover (assuming he plays right mid etc etc)

Still a good left back, but a much better winger.

I see what you're saying. It's interesting to know he used to be a striker as well, I wouldn't have guessed it. He practically never scores.

I doubt he will be made a winger though. Juve has Nedved on the left and Camoranesi on the right; it's hard to replace either of them.

They could put Nedved in the middel alongside Emerson

Zambrotta-Nedved-Emerson-Camoranesi

It would work but it would mean that their midfield will be more offensively minded. And it will defently help them in creativeness. If we had Zambrotta in our team ohhh what a midfield we would have, then I would never go for Solari thats for sure.

Probably Samuel also again Veron & Cambiasso case at Inter. :) Last two years.. Veron and Cambiasso also not good form.

and 04-05 second half part.. Samuel was good form. of course not his best form. but improved his form.

If Samuel will stay at real madrid? without doubt finally he will back best form. but Samuel no longer real madrid plan.

My feeling is "EL MURO" probably will join us. plz.. ;) if deal done? I thank our youth club real madrid. :dielaugh:

Zamorano :proud: - seedorf :fero: - Cambiasso :star: and Samuel :) , Solari. I'm already expecting next summer also who? :D real madrid is our "real" youth club. :p Ronaldo? his relegation to youth club. :p

Latest rumour regarding Samuel, is that our two nutheads will meet Samuel's agent this afternoon at a hotel in Milan. What does that mean? It means that the negotiations between Inter and Real Madrid are concluded, leaving only personal terms left. Sadly, it seems as if the personal terms will be the obstacle as Inter have started a wage-roof of €3.5 for a year, while Samuel picks up a €5 million wage at Real Madrid.

I mean, why would we talk to the agents, if we hadn't concluded the negotiations with the club who owns the player first? I think it would be illegal if otherwise.

true... but it's the personal terms I fear won't go well. He has to make a 1.5 million pay cut and has to move his Spanish wife to Italy. Hopefully things go well though. I've followed Samuel for ages, at January I was dreaming we'd sign him, now it's become a reality.

This is a very old rumour, but it's pretty similar to a recent article...

Zanetti Invites Samuel To Join Inter
1/3/2005 11:30:00 AM
Inter skipper Javier Zanetti is attempting to lure his Argentine national team companion Walter Samuel to Milan.
“All I can say is that Inter are a great club, and one has a great time here. He is one of the best defenders in the world,” said Zanetti.

Samuel is not having an easy time at Real, but Zanetti believes this does not cancel ‘El Muro’s’ grandeur.

”His difficult start in Madrid should not deny his quality. He is a world-class defender, but like all defenders he suffers when the team plays below par,” he said.

Samuel has repeatedly stated that he wants to stay in Madrid despite his difficult start.

Please God yes. And it better not be for free as usual. We can give him to Fiorentina for half of Chiellini. Then I'm sure we will outbid Juve.

Just an article regarding Samuel from XT's Inter forum. Indeed, it does sound too good to be true - but I've got to keep my fingers crossed. Doesn't sound all that convincing either, and it seems old. I also have one from tribal football, posted by the legendary Carson. :D

Inter have reportedly agreed a deal with Real Madrid for the season-long loan of defender Walter Samuel.

The Argentine stopper has been linked with the outfit recently and sources in Milan insist that he will arrive over the summer.

The Italian side are looking for a new central defender and he’s set to come in on loan, with an option to buy outright in 2006 for £16m.

Real have agreed to the move, as they are keen to free up a non-EU place in their squad to accommodate the arrival of Brazilian starlet Robinho.

The Spanish giants are also ready to show Samuel the door after a difficult first season in Madrid following his switch from Roma.

However, there are still problems to be resolved as Samuel will need convincing of the switch.

Inter are also keen to get him to lower his salary, which currently stands at a massive £3.6m-a-season.

Inter transfer chief Marco Branca could fly to Germany over the next few days to meet the player, who is on international duty with his country in the Confederations’ Cup.

The club are also hoping that his Argentine colleagues Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso can help tempt him to the San Siro.

Samuel, should he sign for Inter, will be joined by Real teammate Santiago Solari in the new campaign.

A £3m fee has reportedly been agreed for the Argentine winger whose arrival will be confirmed after the Coppa Italia Final.

Real Madrid's Samuel gives nod to Inter Milan move
tribalfootball.com - June 22, 2005

Real Madrid defender Walter Samuel has given representatives the green light to negotiate a deal with Inter Milan.

Inter have tentatively agreed terms over a season-long loan move for Argentina international Samuel, who yesterday, from Germany, gave his nod to the proposal.

Yesterday afternoon FIFA agents, Ernesto Bronzetti and Peppino Tirri, were in Milan to continue negotiations. The pair have been working as intermediaries for the two clubs and now that Samuel is happy with the move, talks accelerated yesterday afternoon.

Real and Inter have informally agreed a season-long loan, with the Italian club having a purchase option next June. Real want £16 million for Samuel, but Inter chiefs Marco Branca and Gabriele Oriali will fly to Madrid this week in a bid to talk down the fee.

The one stumbling block will be Samuel's massive £3.5 million-a-year wages. Inter patron Massimo Moratti has introduced a new wage cap of £2.25 million-a-year, with the first year of all contracts not exceeding £2 million-a-year.
