He doesn't fit Inzaghi's Inter. At least he was working hard this game.

Huge improvement and made his mark today. Still wouldn't consider him as a sure starter, but really pleased to see him getting involved both front and back. His defensive contribution in Udine was a real highlight.

Very good game from him imo. It helps when he’s surrounded by technical players (obviously). However, he didn’t hide as much today and at least occupied the right positions to receive the ball even if his passing wasn’t very progressive.

This match I would call him midfielder rather than second striker, very good at receiving ball, escaping press and lanching attacking.

I actually liked the fact that he wasn’t as direct with his passing. He’s often far too frantic in possession and causes more turnovers than any of our non-forwards. IIRC, he once had a pass completion rate of 44% at half time.

Today he managed a 93% pass completion, edging out Miki & Hakan (91% both).

This is the first time I’ve seen him be a functioning member of the midfield, rather than a deep-lying Icardi.

As you alluded, it doesn’t help having the B-squad constantly play alongside a critical mass of other B-squad players.

I think, when we don't have a possession, Frattesi should be stalking and pressing in the central area, form where he can use his ball carrying ability to start a dangerous attack.
Unfortunately, when we have the possession, he seems bit useless.
Maybe he shall operate on the verge of the defensive line as a forward, with one from Lautaro or Thuram dropping in the midfield. Otherwise, we have only 2.midfielders, who struggle to pull all the strings.

It was a great game. He was involved in the attack (as always) and actually tried to contribute on defense. This is probably the limit of his upside. Starter versus the bottom half of the table sides and sub when you need a goal.

Mkhitaryan and Calhanoglu saw over 20% of total possession between them.

Fratessi saw 2.6% while playing the full 95mins.

I’m sure he’s asked to play more advanced, but there’s no way that accounts for his complete lack of presence.

Playing against team that sit back in their half requires having technical abilities and some vision on the ball to keep it and distribute it properly or to unlock the defence. Something that Fratessi is simply not.

Also once the game went to 11 vs 10 he basically didn’t need to be in the build up. He basically started playing like a third striker.

And the one time he actually got involved, Torino was red carded.

I have a question. Hypothetically, would you guys trade for Ricci with the great potential he has shown as a technical midfielder or keep Frattesi for his amazing ability to consistently find the goal even with his significantly noticeable technical limitations?

It doesn't make sense to trade him for Ricci, as if we decide to sell, we look for at least 35mln, and Ricci will be just a Hakan's back up, so I don't think that this move is justified
