I've liked Ronaldiho's Atlético Mineiro though Brazilian teams tend to roll in the groups then get f'ed in the knockout.

There are a lot of tight groups so the closing week could be very dramatic as always in the Copa Libertadores.

best group already sorted.

velez 0-0 emelec
peñarol 3-0 deportes iquique

with these 2 results, emelec and velez go throgh. had velez won against emelec, peñarol could have been through. shame.

This is a competition I would love to watch more, but sadly it's not shown in Canada. Corinthians will win it I hope.

I get 3-4 games each matchday (tuesday-wednesday) :p

The favourites (imo):

Corinthians: Extremely well coached team, current title holders.

Velez: Solid team, offensively and defensively, Tigre Gareca has found the right mix of experienced players (Insua) and promising youngsters (Gino Peruzzi)

Atletico Mineiro: kings of the group stages. An inspired Ronaldinho doesnt hinder them either.

Expect Emelec to be the revelation of the tournament.

-------------------------

Cal, Boca are through to the knockout stages. But their game has been....... Unimpressive to say the least.

Boca has been playing bad, but they're Boca, and cannot be excluded from the candidates.

well, I just dont see Boca, as strong as other teams.....

plus, they have been hit hardcore by injury, they lost "pichi" Erbes, huge blow...

Then again, they only need 1 moment of genius by riquelme, and game over.....

So Palmeiras(who are gonna play in 2nd division in Brazil this year) beat Libertad 1-0 today to advance to the next round. That leaves Tigre(Ruben Botta's team) 3rd on 6 points and Libertad 2nd on 8 points. Next week Libertad face Tigre which will basically be a final to see who advances. Good game to watch Botta under pressure.

I'll see if I can find something.

They are winning 3-2 now. Botta has looked good/ok.

Another goal from Botta, less spectacular but good, and his team are winning 2-5 now. Good game from him on my first extended look at him.
