Our midfield is so bad I'm missing Sensi..

Gagliardini is terrible

So true...there was no connection whatsoever between the strikers and the midfield, manu times the defense just kept hoofing long balls to them most of the game :palm:

I don't understand why Conte doesn't use all the subs, at least for time wasting or smth

I think it is pretty harsh on the team to say we played shit or unattractive football. More often than not, away matches against the likes of Brescia, Sassuolo, and Parma are really difficult and scrappy. In my opinion, it is these kind of matches that win championships as not every game is a top of the table clash. I did not expect tonight's game to be easy given our congested fixture list and the workload to which our players are being subjected. I wish we had the luxury of trying to rest some of our starters but we all know that is not an option for us at this point in time.

Matches against the top teams are always tight and often decided by very small margins. However, matches like tonight's are where championships are won or lost. In the past, we have managed these kind of games quite poorly by conceding control of the game, goals and dropping valuable points. In the circumstances, we did well tonight. I have to say that Barella is an absolute joy to watch. He is so combative and confident on the ball and his searching long passes are spectacular. I think we also owe a great deal to Handanovic who made some crucial saves when Brescia were coming into the game. Perhaps what I love most about the way we are playing is that we are trying to manage and control games for a full 90 minutes and I absolutely love it when Skriniar and De Vrij advance and break out of defence and make pinpoint passes to the feet of our strikers. I cannot even remember the last time I saw Inter try and build from the back in that manner.

The only other thing that I have to add is that I am proud of the way he hung in there and how the team played for each other and fought for a win in very difficult circumstances (both phyiscal and environmental). We could not ask for anything more and I could not feel any prouder than I do right now.

I watched the game in bits and pieces, so I wasn’t able to pay close attention to this “prodigy” Tonali everyone is talking about.
How was he? Worth the hype? Should be splash 50-60 mil for him next summer?

How the hell are we fielding teams consisting of De Vrij, Skriniar, Godin, Gagliardini, and Lukaku and we have 0 set piece goals so far. That needs to change.

I watched the match while I was working on my homework assignment (corporate finance), so I couldn't watch him closely too. Saw him trying to deliver long passes on several occasions and they weren't successful. But I watched him in previous matches, he was very good for his age. Did you watch his freekick goal against Genoa? it was magical

There's no one to take these set pieces though.

in my eyes Tonali was very good. He tries those pinpoint long passes, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But they are strong passes. He has the vision and understanding. He fights out there, he's tenacious and wants to run the game. Next summer, I'd definitely put 50-60m€ for him if the market is like that. He's the player we should replace Brozovic with (in the long term). Tonali simply has it. I would hate to see him going to Juventus, more than any fucking possible transfer. I have a gut feeling they try to monetize with Pjanic and get Tonali.

Tonali has been pure class every time I've watched him so far. Very impressive for a 19 y/o in his first season in Serie A.
Will definitely cost more than Barella if he keeps this up for an entire season.

After losing 2 valuable points against Parma, it is great to have won away against Brescia. It is kinda great, considering our squad depth and the number of games we have been playing with the same players and without Sensi.

remember that Tonali's contract is going to expire in 2021, so Brescia will be forced to sell him next summer, I think the price will be about 40 millions euro.

Random observations:

Godin can't play two games a week, his performance yesterday was subpar.
Skriniar did well moving into their half, overall had a good game and seems back to the usual standards. OG was an unfortunate deflection.
Gagliardini did well which pleases me greatly since I always say he is as good as, and also less obnoxious than Vecino. Don't blame him one bit for smacking Tonali there but that yellow card was a slap on the wrist. Overall one of the rare games where ref was biased towards us and let us get away with a bunch of shit. There were easily 4 or 5 fouls for Brescia that they didn't get. Just saying, it needs to be acknowledged.
Handa with that elite double tap save. Rare moment of him being upset and yelling at the defenders when Brescia was setting up that FK near the end.
Esposito's cameo was utterly unnecessary at that point, even Valero would've made more sense in terms of holding the ball in midfield instead of risking Gagliardini getting a second yellow.
Asamoah did well, he doesn't exactly turn water into wine but he is a reliable player who gets the job done very well now that the defense doesn't have to rely on him.
Lukaku had a game free of his usual fuck ups and people are overreaching with their reactions to it. His last night's performance should be his mediocre default, not a shining exception. But credit when due, he scored and did well. Impressive shot as well.
Lautaro is slowly but surely getting stronger, had couple of impressive situations where he was surrounded by multiple Brescia players and managed to retain the ball. Not exactly impressing me but you can see that he is improving. Awesome albeit quite fortunate goal for us.
Brozovic his usual self, poor guy needs a rest but he will have to endure us wearing him out for quite a while to come. I really appreciate him doing away with his headless chicken moments of the past, nowadays he is very measured and coldblooded when the ball needs to be quickly pushed forward. I'm scared of him being injured more than anyone else.
Candreva... not great, not terrible, didn't notice anything worth mentioning regarding him. He seems to have great chemistry with Lukaku so I can tolerate him compared to before. Definitely brought into a shape of some sort of stability under Conte.

Conte bitching about lack of depth makes little sense, he could've put Bastoni in and pushed Skriniar into DM for those last 20 minutes even. Unfortunately Conte seems to lack flexibility in terms of formation and that will be a major thing holding us back. I appreciate all that he is doing and generally agree with his decisions and tactics, but it's a shame that this far into his managerial career he still lacks the key skill of adapting and overcoming when the situation dictates so.
