Jokes aside i would be interested to see a poll in regard to the perceived influence Marotta has on the Lega/Serie A federation and hence the referees.

Me personally i think it has been a huge factor.
Not admitting that this year all the 50:50 decisions ( even 45:55) for that matter have been pro us it would not be fair. Especially from a fan base that has been accusing Juve for that for decades

No, we were accusing Juventus of getting whistles where the decision called for them should have been 0:100 against them...

Completely unrelated, but I'm curious to hear your current take on Marotta. You used to argue that his Scudetto under Conte wasn't impressive due to the amount of money spent on the likes of Lukaku, Barella, Hakimi, etc. These past couple years he's had a signfiicantly smaller budget and had to make some key sales. He assembled the most dominant Italian team in a decade. Has your opinion on him changed?

My opinion on him was that he was always a strong director but people overrated him and it infuriated me because they pretended as if the gobbi weren't cheating for 10 years running after they moved to the new stadium (and couldn't clinch in their final year of cheating).

Marotta didn't win those Scudetti. Agnelli and FIGC did and the collapse of Inter and Milan helped a lot.

What Marotta did was build on that and helped create a strong team in Europe that reached the CL final twice.

At Inter what's been done is of course commendable but I still don't like his ways.

Inter has always been a "family" for players. There's a reason why Adani, a born and raised Milanista, had become and still is a token Inter fan after spending 2 years as a backup center back.

The club is beyond people and that's why this still happens a lot, but with the Chinese and Marotta we're losing this and treat them all like commodities.

I'm not against the guy, I'm just sometimes against his management style. It works to a large degree, but just like someone will complain that Darmian starts over Dumfries, I can complain that he's not extending the contracts of players that needed it (Brozovic earlier, De Vrij, Skriniar) and then pretends that it's all good.

He's part of the club and a very important piece, that's undeniable. But I'm not sure to the extent of the merit he's receiving. He's been bailed by Ausilio (who he wanted to sack), bailed by Simone Inzaghi (who he also considered sacking end of last season and bailed by Hakan and Lautaro who stepped up big time - we can give credit that they believed in them of course - but on a pragmatic level what we've seen from these two, without a proper backup, is just insane.

But sure, working with limited resources and so many people to deal with isn't easy and he's manning the ship to win another Scudetto and hopefully another deep CL run.

Ok, Back on topic - Don Beppe on Inter renewals, Inzaghi future & Oaktree loan
Marotta discussed the qualities and future of Inzaghi.
“He has a great quality of learning in the dynamics of an important team like Inter. Here there is much stronger pressure than at Lazio, he has forged a group of young boys and brought a playing system of winning and quality.

“The group have grown with him in self-esteem, even in Europe. We want to continue knowing that behind them there is a management that supports them from all points of view.”
Inzaghi renewal incoming after Scudetto #20?
The Inter CEO was asked about the various ongoing contract talks.
“These are issues that interest you more than us. There are no problems when the positions converge in continuing. This is the case with Lautaro Martinez, and it will certainly be the same with Inzaghi because Inter have grown and today he is a winning coach.
I guess contract renewals also interest @brehme1989 😅
“He made it to the nominations for best coach and coaches at Inter, who are a great club. We would like to stay, he has a contract until 2025 and there are the conditions for him to stay.”
Yepp, Inzaghi will be extended. Let's see how he can do against Conte

Marotta was asked which team were better – his Inter now or his classic Juventus.
“These are historically different moments. Football has changed, today Inzaghi plays a more manoeuvrable style of football. That Juve had very great players who had won many titles before and then again with Juve.
Manoeuvrable style 😁🤭
“These guys today are growing up, they are starting to have some starts. There is a lot to do but they are growing continuously. They are two beautiful realities in any case.”

He was also asked if he’d consider becoming the president of the Italian FA one day.
“No, I am tied to Inter until 2027 and I feel very well. In 2027 I will also be 70 years old and I could dedicate myself to sport, perhaps in the context of social issues and the growth of our young people who are still unable to carry out the activity according to the right standards.

“I would do it with great fun. A responsibility like that in the FA does not interest me, although I view the role of president with great respect.”
That sounds reassuring.

The Nerazzurri CEO reflected on the team’s elimination from the Champions League.

“It doesn’t change our future plans because the best summary is in the Curva Nord banner: ‘Proud of you’. We are proud and happy with the players, then in the studio your experts know that in the league the strongest win after 38 games.

“The Champions League is also linked to particular factors such as injuries, suspensions or draws. Look at Manchester City-Real Madrid in the quarterfinals and then Borussia Dortmund-Atletico Madrid.

“It’s not that whoever goes out in City-Real are poor. We went out on penalties, and it doesn’t diminish our value.”
After last year's finals, some were expecting to go beyond Atletico..

Finally, Marotta discussed the upcoming deadline of the Oaktree loan.
“It’s a question pertaining to the ownership, I won’t go into the merits. The ownership is present, and we don’t have any problems. We manage the team calmly and we are planning the future.

“I am sure that this issue will be addressed by the president as soon as possible, for the good and history of Inter, with respect for the fans.”
No worries, Steve is working on it 🧘🏼‍♂️
