Goal has learned that Vidal has committed his future to Inter through to 2022, with the option to extend his stay by an extra year included in the final agreement.

The 33-year-old has been handed a contract worth €6 million (£5.5m/$7m) per year, and will now be tasked with helping Antonio Conte's side try to wrestle the Serie A title away from Juventus.

So he is basically being paid 4 to save 2M and remove him from the squad as he is deemed surplus to requirements.

Because he cares more about himself than Inter? Not many players pick the club ahead of themselves. Their own interests is their priority.

Hope we stop making these "free" deals anymore where we pay big salaries for a half arse contribution, and at the end pay extra millions to these players to fuck off.

Let's free ourselves from these so called "free" deals!

I just don’t see how that isn’t breach of contract. He has no intention of staying because he won’t play.

He signs the extension knowing we don’t want him here. Now he like cool give me money my dream is to play for my favorite team ever flamengo/ boca juniors or River plate potentially next week

How would that be breach of contract?

It's a clause in his damn contract. It's the exact opposite of a breach, he's actually complying with it. Not his fault that we gave him that ridiculous option in the first place.

Agreed. Why would anyone sign an aging, declining player like this on such a player-friendly deal? Especially when there were no other serious suitors for him at the time.

That was such a blunder by Marotta to give Vidal that unilateral option. His salary was already quite a big so why give that option?

Vidal might have wanted a bigger salary or a longer contract to sign.

Yeah well that's negotiation. Other side wants more than what you should be giving.

Fact is we gave him too much.

Didn't he pay Barcelona out of his contract to join here? At that point he had all the negotiation power with us.

Always thought this deal was to placate Conti for the most part, and didn't foresee the consequences. Inter maybe in a deja vu situation with Correa and Inzaghi.

If you add up all the transfers Conte requested and what his self induced termination cost... you're going to end up with the money we need to make up this season. And we're not learning our lesson.

Neymar just activated his own new 30M€ per year contract for 5 years and PSG can do shit.

We simply cannot hand out these stupid clauses.

Though we also made nice plusvalenza out of Lukaku he requested.
