Everything “national” connotes ethical power. I dont buy it. Icardi is an international football player and he has full rights to choose his own modes of identification. Nation is not his mom, did not give him anything but unfair treatment. All this social norm about national attachment is political meta-bullshit that eat people before they are born.

Argie teams wants the coach gone before the Nigeria game

5 year contract, if they fire him they have to pay him £17.5 mil while they are still paying the previous two coaches they fired. Also, Messing is so uninspiring, it's pathetic to watch. As a captain and the second best player in the world there are at least two things that are expected of him, moments of individual brilliance and some authority/leadership/initiative to make this team work as a team. As amazing a player messi is now I'm sure he won't be the player he is at Barcelona if he played anywhere else. I've been indifferent towards the messi-ronaldo debate but this world cup pretty much settles the issue after years of denial. Zidane GOAT and ronaldo greatest of his generation

I remember the Argentinian team when Pekerman was their coach, what a brilliant team they had with a (in my opinion) very underrated coach. I hope he can show with Colombia that he's a good coach.

Pekerman's team could have been twice as good and they'd be semi finalists at least playing against Italy.

Hope they keep Samp as coach if he can get them to play like his Chile but has Icardi up top with Dybala that would be great

Tho they don’t really have good defenders. They also seem to be a princesses. They need to bleed for the team you can’t have Stars that are willing to bust their ass and play the Pressing That Chile did.

That or Argentina will need a foriegn coach.

Ramon Diaz should get the job. And Messi should leave the NT. Argentina should accept that the NT needs to be centered around Rulli, Mammana, Paredes, Dybala and Icardi.

"After Grondona died, the AFA decided to try and clean up its act and hold its first democratic election. The contestants were Marcelo Tinelli, who vowed to oust the old Grondona acolytes, and Luis Segura, the continuity candidate. 75 officials were given a vote but the result was a miracle not even Messi could produce, a tie. 38 votes apiece in a 75-vote election, it was simply the latest embarrassment for a discredited organisation that would eventually elect Segura as President.

Segura was, in a surprising twist, forced to step down a year later due to fraud charges."

What a circus, no wonder why Messi is tired of this amateurish FA.

Gonzalo Higuain, who is still owned by Juventus and on loan at Chelsea, has announced his retirement from international football.
The 31-year-old forward had been increasingly snubbed by Argentina in recent months after poor form during his loan spell at Milan.
With new stars like Lautaro Martinez, Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala coming through, Pipita decided to call it a day.
“My era with the Seleccion is over, now I will be watching the team from the outside, which I’m sure will make many people happy,” Higuain sarcastically told Fox Sports Argentina.
“I spoke to (Coach Lionel) Scaloni and told him my point of view. This is my decision and I think it will do me good. I want to enjoy more time with my family and I see they suffer when I am so roundly criticised.
“I am happy with the decision I have made.”
Higuain terminates his international career with 31 goals in 75 caps.
