The day Inter stopped Messi with Argentinian players, such as JZ and Cambiaso, It was the day when argentina didnt even call up the bedst CL team and players " the bedst defence you could find, was the day I lost respect to Argentina.
With the players " attacks and a solid defence would Have made Argentina the bedst balanced team.
Just remember how JZ and Cambiaso stopped Messi 100 of times as his tricks didnt work.

Seriously, you think Messi told Maradona what to do?

Four international caps, one goal. Sort of.
Only once did he start and finish the game, in a 0-0 vs Uruguay. On his other start he played in a 1-1 vs Venezuela and he played 70-75 minutes. He played 7 minutes and 15 minutes in his other appearances.

His only chance was at 4:22. He was always closed down by at least 2 defenders and he rarely got the ball. Just watch how he escapes them. That's a Godin-Gimenez defence btw.

For some reason they've given him an assist here. Goal is at 2:50. I think they both hit it at the same time. He also had a penalty not called on him. Of course Messi would have taken it.

I stand corrected on this dunno where I read he played 10. Oh well, didnt Dybala get sent off in his Argie debut? He still made it to Russia.

This is the expected Argentina lineup for their first group match against Iceland:

Caballero; Salvio, Otamendi, Rojo, Tagliafico; Mascherano, Biglia/Lo Celso; Meza, Messi, Di Maria; Aguero/Higuain.

Games aren’t blow outs at the World Cup

1st games teams are very defensive as they don’t want to start off on the bad foot and way in hell that Iceland is stupid enough to go out and play an attacking game against Argentina.

Iceland came on top of their group in the WC qualifications (followed by Croatia, Ukraine and Turkey), I doubt anyone would have predicted that. You cant take that team with such results so lightly.

we'll see.

You know only a miracle/probably bought the game is why Argentina is even at the World Cup.

Ecuador was eliminated. They used a young team and Argentina who is utter shit in the altitude pulled off a miracle to qualify!!!

People see the roster and go wow..... I don’t know if you guys have seen how utter shit they have been for 4 years under 4 different coaches. The coach that made Chile look like fking Real Madrid lost 6-1 to Spain recently and you guys think this team is going to walk to the World Cup Final!!

In South America at the World Cup
Brazil

Huge drop
Peru/Uruguay

Depends on who shows up that day
Colombia/Argentina

I wouldn’t be shocked if Argentina doesn’t make the 2nd round

guys, the reason why i'm saying this is that i saw france-iceland. i might be wrong of course, but i'm not pulling this out of my ass. there is a big difference in technique and international experience. true, that was 2 years ago, but i don't think much has changed.

Best thing about this world cup is that nobody is really going into the tournament in top form except Brazil. Should at least make for a very interesting group stage

2-1 at most, although if I wasn't a realist I'd go for a draw even. Iceland is super organised and a tightly packed group of players, a team, whereas Argies have some world class players but they're very far from a "team". Sadly difference makers like Messi or Aguero can easily upset them.

Doesn't mean much. Denmark won the Euro in 1992 without even qualifying for it.

Also a lot of questionable stuff happened in the background so they would qualify. Messi had a 4-6 game suspension and then he got to play after 1 game haha

Also did you see Us sub 23 vs France this weekend. Yet people think France win it. They didn’t impress me at all vs Colombia or US.

But then there are just teams that always beat others. Doesn’t italy always beat Germany.

I don't think Argentina finishes higher than Croatia in their group. It's a great match up for Croatia because they're going to be able to dictate play in the midfield. Both defenses are fairly mediocre. I'm hoping for Croatia/Iceland, but I'm expecting Croatia/Argentina.

Iceland is a very dangerous 3rd team in this group.

As long as Italy doesn't have useless players like Pelle or Eder.

And even then they forced penalties, so it wasn't even officially a loss.

Well-well-well. Surely nobody predicted such a trashing by Croatia. Argies were utter shit in both games. Expect Iceland to win Nigeria and draw against Croatia, and Argies can go suck a lemon. That would be a great ending to Messi's career at the NT that to be fair should've ended much earlier.
