Arsenal had not accepted a bid from City and they were not willing to. As that would have cemented City as the absolute powrr in the PL and they thought they'd eventually pick up.

Woodward paid a shit load of money because this was the best PL player and he was afraid that he'd wait for a move to City in the summer...

KdB? Aguero? Hazard? Vardy?

He scored 7 goals in 19 games for Arsenal that season before going to United to score 2 goals. Great numbers for the best PL player. :alone:

Again - Jamie Vardy scored 20 goals in the 17/18 season in the Premier League.

Your best EPL player scored 9 goals that whole season. 20 =/= 9

Sanchez wasn't best player in PL in any season any ways, at best top 3 player in 2016-17 when he scored 24 goals.

The best players of the PL had been Aguero and Sanchez. Only exception was when Luis Suarez was still around which made it a top 3 instead of a top 2. Hazard was at a top level once every second season and he also deserves a mention as a top player in the league, but the rest at least were consistent. At least until Sanchez moved to Manchester.

Don't be mad because an English player is/was better than an ex-serie A player.

Another example - Young against any other LB/LWB we have. Sometimes EPL just is quality-personified.

If PL means only Arsenal team then yes. If not then no. Hazard was always better player than Sanchez except one season.

Only season when Sanchez was top 3 player was in 2016-17 season and that was behind Hazard again.

He was obviously very good player in PL but he was never in top 3 player except one season

2014-15
Hazard
Aguero
Costa
Fabregas

2015-16
Mahrez
Kante
Vardy
Kane
Aguero

2016-17
Hazard
Kante/Kane
Sanchez/Costa

Well, obviously you want to rewrite history and consensus opinions.

I have conceded that when Hazard was at his best, he was #1, but as I said, he wasn't consistent. Aguero was also not so consistent either, but I think no one denies that between 2014 and 2017 the top 3 was Sanchez, Aguero and Hazard.
Imo Hazard was the best player in 2015, but 2016 and 2017 it was Sanchez. He was #2 in 2015. And I can accept that someone else may take 2016 because he was injured, but I stand by this. He just played for an inferior side and couldn't win. PL fans are simplifying everything to:
1) Winning the league
2) Goals + assists
So most rankings inflate players who are impactful on championship sides or have a lot of goals and assists. If you have both, you are the best.

Don't forget that we are talking up to December 2017. De Bruyne emerged in 2017 as a top PL player.

So here are some rankings and articles from those times:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...-the-premier-league-october-2016/eden-hazard/
November 2016: Hazard #1, Sanchez #2

https://amp.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jan/16/alexis-sanchez-arsenal-premier-league
January 2015
Article claiming he's the best in the PL

https://www.football365.com/news/f365s-top-ten-premier-league-players-of-2016

A weird one has him at #4, higher than the other top names.

https://talksport.com/football/1689...top-flight-right-now-ranked-161209219976/amp/

Sanchez #1 here, Dec 2016

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...premier-league-201617/alexis-sanchez-arsenal/

#6 in summer 2017, behind Hazard, 2 other Chelsea players and 2 Spurs players.

https://www.sportskeeda.com/amp/football/top-5-premier-league-players-for-the-2016-17-season/5

These guys have him #3 behind Diego Costa and Toby Alderweireld for 2016-17.

https://amp.theguardian.com/footbal...remier-league-clubs-player-season-eden-hazard

#2 rated in the league, behind Hazard, in 2017 summer.

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2444580-premier-league-100-2014-15.amp.html
#3 behind De Gea and Hazard in 2015.

Dude, even Arsenal fans didn't consider Sanchez to be the best player in EPL in any season. For a while Sanchez was one of the best players in EPL, but he would struggle to make the EPL top 3 more than once or twice. There were always better players. Sanchez has never been the EPL player of the season, no one from Arsenal has since I think Henry.

And I love Sanchez, rate him more than most people. But lets not exaggerate.

Had Arsenal won the league, due to having a defence for example, then he'd be unanimous. The fact that he's top 3 says it all.

Hazard was a barometer for Chelsea. When he had a great year, Chelsea won the league. When not, they all struggled.

Aguero played for the best team.

Sanchez played for a team that should have completed the top 6 and always led them to CL spots. Who cares about awards and fan votes? Arsenal fans aren't the most knowledgeable of the bunch really. But even if they were, do you know how many Obter fans rate Inter players?
Brozovic is the best DM or whatever, Lukaku is the best striker, this player sucks, that player sucks, yet you will also find a large portion of Interisti out there that rate Candreva as one of the best right side players in Serie A or who would say that Bennacer and Romagnoli suck just because they play for Milan.

There was no #1 player every single season in the PL, so stop pretending that this is the argument. When you aggregate the seasons that Alexis was there, he becomes the #1 player with Hazard and Aguero following.

Alexis did it on purpose to make sure that united won't pushed him to go back.

Man U and him agreed to cancel his contract. He has to negotiate with us now.

Awesome he is free but his wages will piss off other players if he is #2/3 best paid when he won’t be a starter. Even if Lautaro leaves I don’t see Sanchez being a starter.

Today this deal will be official, good luck to him and club. Had huge expectations but didn't work out as expected, hopefully he will back to his best.

Finally a worthy number 7 after a Figo, putting an end on the decade-long curse of the shirt :proud:

Grande Sanchez. Should've joined us after Udine, tbh.
