Read that his agent ask for increase of salary from 1.5 million/year to 5 million/year and we agree to increase it to 4 million/year.

While I agree he is our important player for now and the future, I don't understand why should we increase his salary to be 4 mio/year. I guess double his salary to 3 million/year should already be very sufficient for him. Its not like we have lots of fund to increase salary every time a player perform excellent in this team.

For comparison, Skriniar earn 3.6 mio/year. I think Skriniar is more proven and mature defender. So, reasonably should be higher than Bastoni at his age now.

Salaries are also in proportion to what we value them. Would you sell Bastoni for 50m? 60m? 75m?

You can't value a player that much, but then not pay them accordingly.

As for comparison with Skriniar, you can make a guess of what price would Inter be prepared to sell either of them. Last year, we were happy with ~50m for Skriniar. If we value Bastoni at 75m, then surely he can earn more. Note that this is not based solely on potential, both are also regular starters. Same would hold for Lautaro, Barella etc.
