So for next summer it seems that there are currently 2 low hanging italian fruits Don Beppe can collect: Andrea Belotti (€35m) and Lorenzo Insigne (€48m).
1) Granata Sporting Director Davide Vagnati told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia that there was never an agreement between his club and the Nerazzurri over a transfer for Belotti. After the shock sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, the Nerazzurri wasted no time in casting a net for attacking reinforcements, with a number of targets coming on their radar before they settled on Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Lazio’s Joaquin Correa.
Belotti had supposedly been a major target, with the 27-year-old’s contract with his current club set to expire next summer and no agreement having been found on a renewal meaning that he could be available.
However, despite the potential pathway to signing the player for Inter, Vagnati makes clear that there was never an agreement and that the Nerazzurri were always keen on other targets over the Granata captain.
“Belotti has never been close to Inter because there has never been an agreement between the clubs,” he stated.
“I have read many things, but there was never an agreement,” he went on. “There was a meeting, but we did not make a request, because they had another priority.”
2) According to print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport: the contract offered to the 30-year-old by the Nerazzurri would have netted Inzigne around €31 million over four years. Insigne is out of contract with the Partneopei at the end of June 2022, and with no agreement found on an extension and contract talks stalled, a number of clubs showed an interest in signing the player this summer.
Foremost among his suitors were Inter, who considered him as an option in their search for attacking reinforcements following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and were reportedly in talks with both the winger and his club. The Nerazzurri offered Insigne a four-year deal worth €6 million net per season, as well as a €7 million signing bonus and image rights, and could could return with their offer yet to sign him in a coming transfer window.
Calciomercato.com: Inter put forward an offer for the winger, but the Partenopei rejected it, wanting at least €25 million for their captain in order to allow him to leave over the summer. The Nerazzurri are now considering renewing their interest next summer when the player is out of contract and available as a free agent, with his entourage thought to be asking for a signing bonus of €7 million and wages of around €6 million net per season in addition to the availability of image rights.
“I’d like to see Insigne in an Inter shirt. I would have liked him, he would have done well, I’m sure of it. Lorenzo is an excellent player.” - Massimo Moratti
> Can`t wait for the next masterclass.
Insigne seems like natural Sanchez replacement while Belotti seems like a logical move (unless club manages to buy Vlahovic).
