Xhaka was never ever a beast. He had mediocricity written all over him since his Monchengladbach days. I remember we were linked to him back in the day, i had an argument with albanian friend. He rated him highly, i didnt at all. Should have had that bet with him lol, that he would flop at big team.

Agreed. Xhaka at Gladbach was one of those typically shit modern midfielders that gets undeserved praise. At best you could say he's "tidy" with his passes and once in a blue moon scores a screamer or gives an amazing long ball.

More often then not, as you say he's completely mediocre. Defensively spastic, gets booked ludicrously often, can't tackle for shit, slow, weak, and selfish on the ball.

Of all the midfielders we've been linked to, he's the absolute worst choice IMO. I would even take a gamble on Matic (who looks utterly finished) than Xhaka.

Xhaka is a poor man’s Brozovic! Some times flash a good pass or desent shot... bad additude at times... poor at defending... inconsistent...

I say pass unless Valero leave and it’s a free loan? But Torreira oh boy... that hit the spot for me :megusta:

this rat Paratici was scouting Kulusevski today, he was shown in tv. I think we should hurry up, because Dejan outperformed his teammates today... I saw only first half but his every decision on the pitch is mature and it's hard to believe that he is just 19.
On the other side I watched Udinese's match and De Paul was poor. He has bad season so far, he shows some nice passes at times, but generally he looks just decent. However, his teammates are terrible and it's difficult to shine in such poor team... I think the fair price for him should be about 20 mln euro, 25 mln max.

Conte thinks he can convert him to a midfielder.

Last chance to go all in for SMS this winter. Hopefully Lazio drops many points by the end of the year but they are very likely finishing 3rd this season.

Otherwise I'd see to get a loan + futile option on Daniele Baselli for a quick fix and look for other top midfielder choices in the summer.

I'd also keep tabs on Luca Valzania before Atalanta sells him for 25m somewhere. Decent rotation option with Barella-esque characteristics.

He's more of a wide midfielder than a winger. He has all the qualities to transform into a good B2B midfielder.

Look at Vecino, Barella and Gags when they play. They often double on the left or right flank with either wingback. This is where Kulusevski will thrive.
Guy is pretty mature to be only 19 and he's and a few call ups for the national side but hasn't played yet.

Allan is surely unhappy at Napoli, to say the least. And ADL is at peak saltiness towards his players right now.

Maybe a cheeky bid in January wouldn't hurt.

Kulusevski MIGHT work as a midfielder, but i wouldnt risk it. He could be Sensi type of midfielder, but he wont work as B2B nor as CM. He doesnt move or defend enough.

I see him as a winger, even tho his natural position is more centrally (AM), he himself has said it. But his characteristics simply dont seem like he can be a CM/B2B.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, we were offered Draxler but we consider his salary too high (5.2m net). I always wanted Draxler at Inter but i am not sure he has a position in Conte's 3-5-2.

Many agents are knocking on our door these days. I hope we don't take the bait with some unnecessarily expensive transfer moves (Xhaka, Matic, Giroud etc)

I think your worries are not very plausible, simply because it's part of our tactics that those two attacking midfielders go wide in attacking phases, overloading the wings together with the wing-backs. Therefore, for a major part of the game Kulusevski would actually be in situations similar to those that he plays now.

Actually, I think his experience as a winger is precisely the reason why he is so attractive. All those Xhakas, Matics, Tonallis and Rakitics are nice and all that, but they do not necessarily fit our formation if we want to have a substitute for Barella or Sensi; they are simply much more defensively minded. Which is obviously not bad, I would just argue that buying them would not necessarily solve our problems when it comes to Sensi/Barella-dependence.

In this sense, I see both Kulusevski and De Paul as sensible signings. Same goes with maybe few guys from Napoli, like Zielinski. I imagine Vidal could do well in this role as well, at least looking how he played against us in the champions league.

This is, De Paul already played at that role (granted, has been pretty much crap there). Kulusevski has no experience playing there. Might work, might not work, but i dont see him fit in 3-5-2. IMO he would be wasted as RCM/LCM, even if he overlaps with the wingbacks and is attacking minded.

And Conte can't change to 3421 or any other 3 man df system... 4 man df for him doesn't seem like an option tho
And De Paul isn't crap, he just plays in a crap team... There is a difference
