Inter are ready to approach Cagliari to sign another midfielder following the success of the Nicolò Barella transfer, according to a report from Milan based newspaper la Gazzetta dello Sport via Calciomercato.com today.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are interested in 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Nahitan Nández. The player has impressed for the Sardinian side this season after joining from Argentine club Boca Juniors in the summer. So far this season Nández has made 13 appearances for the Rossoblu, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process.

The Nerazzurri are so convinced by his strong performances and high level of play that they are prepared to offer Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan for him, the report continues. The midfielder is currently on loan with Cagliari after spending one unconvincing season with Inter, where he already appears more settled. Inter are looking to strengthen their midfielder in January and continue the race with Juventus for the Scudetto this season.
Why not Gagliardini for Nandez

Hmmmmm

We do have tabs on him.

Next season we'll try to offload Nainggolan to them with him as part of the deal. Not sure it could happen due to a high salary but our intentions have been clear since last year.

It was said that we told his entourage to move to Cagliari in the first place, but then we had these silly issues with their owner so not sure if that was media theatrics or genuine soft hostility.

Why not Gagliardini for Nandez

No chance for Nandez in January. Both him and his agent were pretty open about him rejecting bigger clubs than Cagliari (i.e. Napoli) because he wants to acclimatize in the league. We would have to wait until the summer. But then it would be worth it!

Also, I have to say. This Cagliari team is really something. While I would like Radja back, sign Nandez etc. I won't be that mad if it doesn't happen.

I really like how Marotta / Ausilio (So breheme would be happy) is focusing on scouting younger midfielders rather than dying ones for onnce.

Galdiardini is worth something and can at least run. But the other aging midfielder isn't worth much and will be completely useless soon if he isn't already.

De Paul isn't great, but is a huge upgrade over Vecino/Gags. He is a great rotational player for us.
De Paul is versatile but also expensive [just signed a contract extension]. Why pay when you can have a better player for free? Go all-in on Eriksen [free] by offering bigger wage than spanish teams. If not, there are still these up for the grab:

Josip Iličić [FREE, both feet, high IQ] + Matic [free] if we`re not getting SMS + João Moutinho [free] to rotate with Sensi.

Tonali as investment, to make sure he does not end up at juBentus.

Winter? Just loan 1 of Vidal/Rakitic, they are both unhappy. We are being linked with Strootman, as we have asked for a LOAN availability.

At this point I would take any of the above just to avoid watching Vecino/Gagliardini as starters.

Buying players like Ilicic and Matic pulled us in this hole. Just look at Godin who’s class above of both of those guys and we are still not happy with level he’s showing. Problem with players over 32 their level of performance can only go down.

We need someone who can rest one of the strikers and someone with a brain to help in the middle because Vecino/Gags are useless most of time.

I don’t think Barca will let their expensive players on loan and investing big money on Rakitic is crazy since Modric is free in the summer. Even older, he looks like he have more gas in the tank from Rakitic. Rakitic looks so lethargic last year or so.

Vidal would be good fit since he’s dynamic, knows coach and a league. To make it happen we will need strong push from a player. That’s only way we can force Barca to let him leave in January.

It can sound crazy but I would use good relationships with Sassuolo and Dinamo to take Olmo and Berardi.

Olmo is future star, you have to be something special to be called up in Spain NT from fucking Dinamo Zagreb. Loan plus obligation in payments would be easily accepted. Milan, Liverpool and Barca are interested.

Berardi is a fan and he’ll do 200% every time on the field. Fits better on striker role from Politano and can bring something else in our attack. His style can work with both Lukaku and Lautaro. I bet they would take bunch a players from us.

We're linked with Grillitsch of Hoffenheim (via Calciomercato). For those who don't know him, he's a 24-year-old Austrian deep lying playmaker. From the few times i have watched him, he looks like an interesting player but i am not sure if he's ready for the next step. The Austrian members of the forum probably know him better.

Am I the only one feeling you`re contradicting yourself in the same post?

I mean sure Godín is already 33 (34 in Feb!), but both Iličić and Matic are 31.

You say we should go for Modrić, but he`s already 34. How many years of contract should we offer him then?

You cannot put Modric in same sentence with Ilicic or Matic. I don’t have nothing against players over 30 if they’re free and recent world class. Neither of those two you suggested were world class in their best years.

Players like Godin or Modric are not able to give you 40 games per season but if you manage their minutes well you will get world class players for crucial games in the season with load of experience.

Figo comes to my mind, that guy managed to raise our club on different level only by his class and presence. He performed well and younger players learned a lot from him.

De Paul available in January, unlike many others

I think many people haven`t seen enough of Ilicic, he`s also very smart AND strong (needed in Serie A).

so seems like the most possibile and probable player we get in January is De Paul, at last from what im hearing till now, we will see.
Inter reportedly need to shell out around €30m if they want to sign Udinese ace Rodrigo de Paul in January.

According to Calciomercato.com, Inter remain interested in De Paul, who in turn is “not unsellable” for Udinese.

What so special about De Paul?
He actually knows what to do with the ball and how to keep building an attack, unlike Vecino and Gagliardini...

The Nerazzurri will look to bolster their midfield this winter, and the website claims they are attracted to the Argentine’s “movement, technique and eye for goal”.

“We may have problems in January, Udinese are a club that can’t keep players if big offers come in,” sporting director Pierpaolo Marino admitted to Radio 24.

As for the “big” offer needed, CM has it down at €30m, which could be lowered by players being proposed in exchange.

The 25-year-old has scored just one goal in 10 appearances for the Zebrette this season.

Olmo central midfield or center forward? Are you serious?

What so special about De Paul?

I don't know what your definition of "special" is, but I think he's a good player. He's pretty technical (good shot/passing/crossing/dribbling etc), decent pace too, and he can do a job in a few positions.

Usually plays in Sensi's position as the LCM in a 352 but has also played as a right winger, left mid, AM and even a forward. To me though, he just seems like an attack-minded midfielder who is relatively comfortable drifting wide and back centrally.

Look at that 90th minute chance Sensi had against Dortmund - he passed vertically to Lautaro who held off his man and laid it off for Politano who laid it off for Sensi to work into space and shoot. Nice vertical passing, nice movement, nice give-and-go stuff through the center.

I feel like in Sensi's absence we've seen a complete inability to attack in this fashion. None of our other midfielders like to really get in between the lines and run at defences. Our other midfielders aren't really built to play in these tight spaces. De Paul could, to a degree, help in this regard. (As could someone like Vidal or Rakitic for that matter)

We won most of the games in Sensi's absence so it's hard to complain, but I daresay a midfield trio of De Paul - Brozovic - Barella is much better than Barella - Brozovic - Vecino/Gagliardini.

At 25, he's not young but not old by any means either. Perfect age. I am 100% in support of signing him if we can get him in on a similar deal to Sensi, say a loan for a small fee or player swap, plus option of ~€25m.

We've bought a lot of "promising" AKA mediocre players at that price point. It's subjective, but I think De Paul has the quality to succeed where the likes of Gagliardini, Vecino, Dalbert, have been inconsistent or underwhelming. He might not be that direct injection of game-winning influence, like Vidal (in theory) but he'd be a good signing IMO.

I dont want De Paul. He was decent last year, but utter crap this one. He plays as LCM in 3-5-2 and doest work there. He is not a CM. He is a winger/AM, but not a CM. We don't play with either AM or wingers, so it's pointless to get him.

I don't even think he's a winger/AM either. Really just somewhere in between all 3 positions  a center attacking wingfielder.

I completely agree. It looks like we're the minority. Anyway, i don't really believe the rumours about De Paul. We didn't get him in the summer because Conte didn't want him. I don't think he has changed his mind about him few months later.

Well, i'd rather have a player who is great at one position, that mediocre to decent in multiple.

I see him as a mix between winger and AM tho. Last year he played as AM in 3-5-1-1 behind Lazagna most of the time, drifting out wide. If Udine played 4-3-3, then he was the left winger. And had good season, if not great. Now as pure LCM, he is crap.

Screw de Paul.... I rather not get anyone than waste money on him. Even the kid fro
Parma looks better.

All I want is Van De Beek even if it means waiting till the summer to get a midfielder.

Well, he's further away from goal and he's probably not making the highlgiht reels but he was decent against us.

Kulusevski is very interesting but you guys forget that Atalanta own him and they don't sell cheap. He kinda reminds me of SMS but I think he lacks an end product.

- - - Updated - - -

I think Inter need to make a decision go for raw talent or an established player, considering we have the likes of Barella and Sensi who are diamonds in the rough, I would consider going for a safer option, if Vidal is available I'd grab him in a second.
