I think we will end up with Montolivo and Sanchez...which was my original prediction and I'm sticking to it. I was really hoping for Sahin instead of Montolivo however it looks like Madrid have beaten us again. Can't forget that Madrid will probably sell a midfielder though and they supposedly still owe us some money for Mourinho. So someone like Gago may be a dark horse in the race. Montolivo just makes sense though. 1. He is the type of player we need. 2. He is almost out of contract. and 3. He's got Serie A and Champions League experience. Him adding to our new little Italian contingent is a nice bonus to.

I think he's good enough to be a starter here. Motta is a great player on his day but not someone you can rely on for an entire season. I would keep him though, having a class player like that on the bench just makes our squad stronger. I think Montolivo just needs a move to a bigger club to take him to that next level. Linking with players like Sniejder and Eto'o will only make him look better. Hope we can get him for around 12 million.

Agree with thatdude when it comes the most probable scenario. There is cost-effectiveness getting those two (given that we ca negotiate counter-parts to those deals). Nasri would be very nice, given his contract situation.

i know all u guys saying he is running out of contract, he is cheap lets get him! but think abt it this way..
we all know montolivo sucks in big games so wat if he sucks in a big club like inter?? there is a big possibility isnt it? since we have more big games than fiorentina.. then we r stuck with him have to pay his salary for 5 yrs just to sit on the bench.. isnt it better we pay a little more but at least we get a regulart starter?

I totally agree with you. I, like you, feel that Montolivo will grow as a talent and player when at Inter. Having a line up of Sneijer, Montolovio, Motta, Cambiasso, Zanetti, Sanchez will be a very formidable force. Maybe, just maybe, Esteban Granero might make a move here too. I rate him highly.

there is alotta fish in the sea.. why montolivo? lass diara is much better and since madrid r going to have 10 players for the same position they probably sell him for cheap.

I don't see anything special in Granero. He's a hard worker but that's it. He's a good player but I don't see how he could improve our midfield, but he's young and might improve.

As for Montolivo, I like him as a player and he's Italian, which makes it even better. I hope we can get him for less than 15 million.

all the players u mentioned except Sanchez are worse or on the same level with Montolivo and cannot offer anything more then what he can

i watched him yesterday... there is absolutly nothing special abt him... he is good for mid table teams not big teams like inter

if we want to compete on international levels we shud stop looking at players like montolivo

Of that list, none brings the qualities Montolivo brings on his position. We need a Creative cm . Lass is a DM , we don't need that now. Same as Gago, Nasri will never join us. Mikel is a starter at Chelsea. Barry is an Englishman..
So Montolivo is a great sign for us. I'd prefer Ganso but still , I'm happy with Riccardo !

Montolivo had talent in his offensive phase of his game, but Prandelli placed him in a very deep position where he's rarely involved in the team's attacking moves. Naturally, he's pretty weak in defending, and that move stalled his development in his attacking play, which caused his overall development as a player just went down into the drain, as he didn't really get very good at one thing, and instead he became only decent at several things.

Not to mention he has a somewhat weak mentality, often goes invisible in big games, just like against us, except later in the game.

I was never too impressed with him, even when Fiorentina was doing well in CL, he wasn't as much of a protagonist as Vargas or Jovetic. But going along with our mercato strategy in recent years, there's a big chance that Montolivo will be signed, and I have to say I'm actually rather please we sign him, at least it's not some random players like Kharja, who isn't even capable of delivering more than a decent games.

I guess we just have to be satisfy with what we can get, and not to be too picky or otherwise we'd end up with nothing, or go on a panic buy like Muntaris.
