Guy has beaten cancer, plays like there's no tomorrow. Great character, great composure.

People hadn't realized that he was a quality center back because he was at Lazio and because of his age, but they forget that Mancini used him ahead of in-form Bastoni for the Italy team.

Something about Italians in defense. They just bring so much calm. The combination of Bastoni - Acerbi - Darmian with Onana behind them has essentially saved this season.

However this guy deserves special credit. He’s obviously not the best athlete nor is he the most technical but he is so good at organizing the back line. We have never looked this steady in defense despite better individual players. It’s the communication and experience. It makes the sum greater than the parts.

What an absolute unit. Who needs condoms if you have this guy protecting your goalie

acerbic

Definition of acerbic

: sharply or bitingly critical, sarcastic, or ironic in temper, mood, or tone

Accurately reflects our reaction to this transfer

Dear me, my deepest apology to doubt our backline commander. I am so glad I was wrong about this transfer.

Acerbi, on the other hand, was signed by Milan from Chievo when he was 24 and was hyped as the new Alessandro Nesta. The club even gave him Nesta’s old No 13 shirt. But it was too much, too soon. “I didn’t think like a professional,” Acerbi confessed. “I’d often go to training tipsy without sobering up from the night before. Physically I was fine because I’ve always been strong. All I needed was a few hours’ sleep and I could still perform on the pitch.”

Testicular cancer changed him. Twice Acerbi came back from it and the experience gave him a greater appreciation for how short life and careers can be. The potential Milan identified in Acerbi went on to be fulfilled at Lazio and Inter. The centre-back has had to fight to make it to this level. The same goes for Dimarco.

It turns out he used to be a talented young defender and compared with Nesta. No wonder he still defends superbly even when he has lost his pace.

I still maintain that the ref was absolute shit yesterday... Completely lost control of the game should have handed out the first yellows a lot earlier and never had a clear line....
Fucker whistled the slightest pushes, just to let obvious kicks and stomps run on...
Also so many tactical fouls where he just refused to pull out the yellow...

Not sure if it was a straight red as i m not 100% sure about intention but it was a dark yellow anyways....

Anyways thankfully the ref at least was constantly bad for both teams.

Yeah, the refereeing was awful.

Yeah that was reckless by Acerbi but at the same time numerous of cards weren't given to Milan players. In the second half, that Krunic's tackle on Hakan was red card worthy. Might not have looked that dirty from the first glance, but that was a straight red card without hesitation. Couldn't get any dirtier than that, no matter how close to the ground it was or what the fuck ever.

I agree, but to be honest, the number of times we've seen things given to Milan/our rivals which we wouldnt get - just a bit of an unnecessary risk tbh

I would guess it's thanks to the little mindgame Inzaghi played with the ref before the match.
