You can't apply transitive properties to football. We beat Barca. Monza beat us. Therefore Barca would lose to Monza.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying. My point is: if you told us at the beginning of the season we would face Porto and Benfica in the UCL QFs or R16, we would all be salivating. It was the best case scenario by a longshot.
Don't know what that had anything to do with what I said. That's actually what I keep repeating in this forum and it has nothing to do with what I said.

It was the best case scenario but so what?

We still nullified those teams. We made them look bad. Those are good teams. The fact we didn't get better teams from the draws to face shouldn't take anything away from us.

I think the point is in many other worlds we could easily have been out at R16. Yes you can only beat the competition you face, and we've obviously done that, but c'mon let's not kid ourselves this is one of the most lop sided CL draws in recent memory? Almost all the "hard" teams went on the other split

Don't get me wrong, luck is a big part of the CL, look how we've been screwed the last few years, but we should also appreciate that this is a very generous hand

Yeah this is a generous hand. But what's the agenda behind this talk?

It all started from the media shit talk of Inter maybe giving a bonus to players for reaching top4 and then it was asked from Marotta who denied that we do not do that kind of stuff here.

It all started from the media and you guys start jumping up and down here, trying to twist some arguments over it. :D We got a lucky draw this season, so fucking what?

Yeah exactly, who cares

Juve got a lucky draw in recent years. Lyon, ajax, Porto. They got eliminated each time.
Psg were unable to beat benfica earlier this season and benfica hammered Rube.

We all acknowledge that, we've got incredibly lucky and for what we've went through we deserve it. Year after year of group of deaths, Liverpool last season, so what.

Point remains for me, we have a damn good team who in the league are under performing as fuck.

Espresso reading an article.....

And wtf and how is Inter operating on debt level below?

Total debts exceeded the ceiling of 881 million euros (they were 827 million as at 30 June 2021).

Let's be honest those "hard" teams are just 2 teams: Real Madrid and Manchester City, Bayern have been a disaster since Nagelsmann firing, Chelsea was easily the weakest of all the teams left and were also in disarray, the 3rd and 4th "hard" teams were Napoli and Benfica according to pretty much everyone and they were clearly beaten by Inter and Milan.

I think Real Madrid and Manchester City are clearly the top teams in Europe, but thinking that a top 10 team in Europe cannot beat them is ludicrous. Both Madrid and City has been beaten by much worse teams this season. Real Madrid have been beaten by Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca, Villarreal beat them twice in the league. Manchester City have lost against Brentford and Southampton. If anything Napoli looks more impressive this season in that regard, having only lost against Inter, Milan Lazio and Liverpool (Cremonese was on penalties).

League games matter a lot less, though - in the final, these bigger teams (should) step up to the plate

Of course I'm not saying we have no chance, but this will be the game of the life for many of the players on the pitch - from both sides.

As I said, assuming we beat Milan, we're realistically looking at Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni vs Haaland, or vs Vini, Rodrygo, Benzema...

If we win CL it is as big miracle as Greece or Denmark winning Euro or Porto winning CL (counting Cup format).

Chelsea came closed but their team was much stronger than ours.

Our league campaign is a disaster as is our ongoing financial/ownership situation and asset management. The only bright spark this season is the strong but unexpected CL campaign which as many have said, was heavily aided by our extremely favorable knockout draws.

Whether individuals choose to focus on the positives, or simultaneously take in all the good with the bad (because more than one thing can be true at the same time - as you so frequently say yourself), the only agenda here is your agenda to attack the latter group because you have a strong anti-dissent susceptibility. Come on Cafe! You don't like people complaining about anything regardless of whether their complaints are valid or not, regardless of whether they are a frequent or seldom complainer. Not trying to 'attack' you, just answering your question in full. 😘

The thing is, normally I'd ve focused on the positives, but the bad is *so* bad for us if we dont make top 4 that we do need to be quite focused and conscious of it, tbh.

Like, being out of the top 4 could mean selling Bastoni, Barella and more next season, and realistically means we wont be in the CL until we get a change of ownership +1-2 years of investment

its not like we're gonna miss out on the league by 3 points or something, its probably one of the most disasterous seasons in our history compared to expectations & team cost/etc

I don't know about this meta discussion.

There are a lot to complain in a season for sure. In a season where we were suppose to be fighting for the Scudetto but are fighting for top 4 position being outside of top 4 position at the moment.

But what is this thing with complaining about the draw? Is it that people want to just bash everything related to Inter so even an almost historic CL season one needs to find something to complain about that too so let's go after the draw? In the end we knocked out Barca to even get to these draws, that's enough for me at least. We also knocked out two group winners in our run (yes, Porto group could be considered easy, but Benfica's group was tough one).

Yeah, you could take such approach. Then again, it's pretty meaningless (to worry about the future) and just brings anxiety to yourself. :D

I've really tried to shift my mentality this season more towards "what happens, happens" and move on from there and not to focus too much on the future. It's so bleak at the moment with the Zhang ownership that I've decided to just trying to focus more on the present. That's why the CL campaign is such a vitalization for this rotten season. :D

Like, if we have to sell few big players, then so be it. We were Inter before Barella and Bastoni and continue to remain so after them aswell. Missing the CL might have big consequences but with new ownership coming over in near future anyway, it's gonna be a new start. It's impossible to see Zhangs staying here for years.

Tbf for me I find it kind of helps, because then at least you have a realistic expectations for the shitstorm that is coming lol

Well, our bonds and Oaktree alone is like 600+ mil? Then there's been injections from Suning, and probably operational debt as well. I dunno why you'd find that number surprising? It's roughly in the ballpark is expect.

Oaktree loan is not Inter loan.
