Milan owner Cardinale was asked about the stadium project with Inter and if the plan was still to go ahead together:
“We have the experiences with the Yankees Stadium, the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. We have experience in building stadiums and differentiating the various revenues from this type of infrastructure.

I’m a big believer in being independent, but right now there’s nothing we’re ruling out regardless. But you know, I think Inter are currently thinking about what their future will be and we are focusing on ours and what can be the best solution for us.”
Seems like he wants to distance himself from the current broke owners of Inter. Makes sense.

Yeah can't really blame him.

I've wondered all along how Zhangs would have been able to finance the operation. Also believed they would sell once the stadium project was signed but it's probably hard to sign it without showing some proof of funds. So a bit of chicken and egg issue.

Lets be honest, if Suning can not afford Acerbi at 4 million and want a discount, how are they going to be able to afford building a stadium?

All this talk of Inter committing to a plan and building a stadium is when donkeys will fly and we all know what happened to Chievo Verona.

I would go a step further than that and say that it should only be reopened when the club and its new management formally commit and the relevant municipality has given the green light.

Otherwise, this is just a thread of hopeless wishful thinking.

Is there a reason why we can't just build the cathedral on our own?

You're being too optimistic. Human civilization will be on the cusp of extinction and we'll still be playing at the San Siro, selling concessions out of a plastic fold-out table.

Have you been to the san siro?
Atmosphere against fucken monza beats anything you get in any of these new EPL stadiums....

Now of course in any big game the atmosphere will be bustling but to just dismiss the san siro and it s accustics is fucken ridiculose...
That being said we need to renovate and i m not sure we could even keep that if we do overhaul the stadium......

yeah, I have been to the San Siro

Dont get me wrong, I think the atmosphere is great, but I also think we need a new, modern stadium with the ability to generate the revenue we need

I dont disagree on that keeping the san siro in it s current form is untenable.... but nights like yesterday make me think maybe renovating even if it costs a couple of mios more should be the way to go just cause we are talking about the freaken san siro... Then again not sure the atmosphere and charm can be kept while overhauling the stadium

honestly, the cost would probably be significantly more. If you assume its either full out for 1-2 seasons, or partial outage for like 2-4 seasons, then the loss of revenue will be not insignificant. I'm no construction expert, but I suspect if you're building <XYZ> on a greenfield or brownfield site, it'll cost more on the brownfield because you've gotta fix a whole bunch of shit to get it up to the standard you want, so your probable best bet is to compromise on the quality so you can keep to the same budget (ignoring match day losses)

Also I guess practically, we dont own the san siro nor the land

I’m no construction expert either but those vids of what look like cracks and movement give me the fear!

Yeah i think estimates were like 50 to 100 mio higher when renovating vs new building..
Also yes the san siro is not owned by us but again what the fuck is the city of milano gonna do with the san siro if both BBIlan and inter move out?
It s freaking ridiculous that politicians are not actively trying to keep us and bbilan in the san siro even if it would mean "Gifting" us the stadium...

Also at least with the san siro we wont have to jump trough all the hoops of getting permission to build a stadium since there is already one. Moving to another municipality is not gonna speed things up or make em easier. In every fucking corner of italy you ll find at least one politician who wants to raise his profile and decides that taking a stance against a new stadium is the way to go.

Anyways it s not an easy decision all i m saying is nights like yesterday make me not want to leave the san siro
