Calling it now - an amazing opening 45 minutes where we surprise even the most optimistic of fans with an immaculate, dominating performance, but fail to convert our numerous chances. We go into the half time break with a narrow 1-0 lead despite having 69% possession, 20 shots, with 12 on target. Inexplicably, the players come out for the second half looking like they' simply refuse to play the game of football and we slump to a 1-1 draw.

Info: Serbian referee Srdjan Jovanovic has been appointed

i have no worry at all about this game. we will win this :interflag2:
Porto are not bad under Conceição. They have a deep squad that is worth €264M (around half of Inter`s).

easy win.
I also expect a win the 1st leg at home, question is by what margin?

Inter should push hard and take advantage of Porto`s injury situation: forward Evanilson, midfielder Otavio and DM Uribe are among the most significant players that are currently injured.

1-1?! You are too far optimistic. We are going to lose most probably, just like against Barca and Borussia past years.

But Porto are not those days Barca or Dortmund. 3:0 would be great.

I read that Porto are trying to manage an injury crisis.

I want Inter to fuck Porto for the sole reason that Sergio Conceicao is their coach and I am still pissed at having to watch him and Domenico Morfeo play for Inter all those years ago.

I take a wide gamble. 3:0, 2 goals for Lukaku and one for lautaro.

Porto are coming from 10 wins in a row and they've only conceded about 2 goals (saw something on Twitter).

Don't think they're pushovers and plus it definitely aint gonna be easy.

Adriano played one of his best games for Inter against Porto in 2005, scoring three goals in the Champions League Round of 16
“I remember that match as if it was yesterday. It was amazing for me,” Adriano told Gazzetta.
“Inter are in my heart. I always try to watch them on TV. I have such a solid bond with the fans and it’s nice to see their comments on social media with so many people writing ‘Imperatore’ in Italian.”

Seeing this footage made me think "God I miss Julio Ricardo Cruz so much". El Jardinero would be much appreciated in today`s squad.

Lukaku has recently returned to action after an injury and it’s no secret that Adriano was one of his idols as a kid. ‘The Emperor’ was one of the reasons why Lukaku joined the Nerazzurri from Manchester United in 2019.

“Romelu and I are very similar in many ways, not only for the left foot or physicality,” admitted Adriano.
“I am sure he will score an amazing goal against Porto, Well, actually, he will score three just like me.” - The Emperor
No pressure on Lukaku 😅

INZAGHI: ‘PORTO WILL FACE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY INTER’
Simone Inzaghi does not underestimate Porto and highlighted what Inter need to find victory in their Champions League Round of 16 tie.
The Nerazzurri have recovered from their sluggish start to the season and looked to be the best of the rest in Italy behind the ever-dominant Napoli.

A key turning point for Inter’s season came in the Champions League, when they fought hard to pick up four points in two group games against Barcelona, allowing them to finish second and move onto the knockout stages.

Speaking in a press conference, Inzaghi first discussed the pitfalls facing Inter ahead of their Round of 16 tie.
“We know how important these Round of 16 matches are. I can think of last year’s two games with Real and Liverpool or those with Bayern and Barcelona this year.
“They are very demanding international matches, in matches of this level we will need our heads. We will have to come out as a team from the difficulties.”

The Inter coach spoke highly about his Porto counterpart Sergio Conceicao.
“Sergio, I see him again with great pleasure, he was a great teammate with whom I shared victories at Lazio. He’s a great coach, he’s doing great things. He plays physical and technical football, Porto are very strong and come from ten wins in a row.
“He has quality players, they have a couple of players in doubt like us or any team but regardless of who is playing Sergio has been great at giving the team great organisation. We are two quite young coaches.
“I met him in Rome a year and a half ago, we said hi and spoke. I see him again with great pleasure. Then for professional choices he’ll decide in the best way. He has been doing very well for a long time.”

He touched on the increased pressure of the Champions League knockout stages.
“These are international matches and clearly a Round of 16 game is different from the group stage because here there is only a first leg and a return leg.
“We know the objective difficulty we will find in the opponent who is used to playing these games.
“When Chelsea won two years ago, Porto won in London. They come from 10 consecutive wins, but they will find an Inter side that is happy and healthy.”

Inzaghi was asked who would start out of Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.
“I haven’t chosen yet, there are doubts and every day I have to make choices. I have to try to do the best for the good of Inter.”

He reacted to the suggestion that Inter were favourites for the clash with Porto.
“As far as favourites and predictions are concerned, I’m not very good. They are of absolute value and we respect them a lot. They always or almost always manage to make it to the knockout stages.
“They have a lot of quality as well as being very organised. They have important forwards and a striker who is the best in the Champions League in terms of assists.”

He reflected on the Nerazzurri’s Round of 16 clash with Liverpool last year.
“Even last year the Round of 16 with Liverpool, it was a great training camp. Inter hadn’t reached the round of 16 for many years and there are some regrets, especially in the first leg.
“Certain matches make you grow in all components. We are confident and in good shape.”

Inzaghi spoke about the need for consistent improvement.
“The improvement has to be continuous because the work goes on over time and you have to improve every day.
“The boys have always given me great willingness and we have already taken great satisfaction. I have no doubts, there’s ambition here.”

He commented on the importance of a good mentality.
“Tomorrow’s game we will need, in addition to the heart, the head. That’s where the difference is made.
“There will be difficulties and we will have to overcome them all together. A lot of teamwork is needed.”

Finally, Inzaghi provided an update on the conditions of Lukaku and Marcelo Brozovic.
“Both of them are physically very well. They are recovering. Brozo has been out a lot, now he’s raising his minutes and with Udinese he did 65 minutes in the best way.
“Lukaku has more games in his legs, he is improving and is putting in a lot of effort. Then for both of them the same as before applies.
“Whoever doesn’t start will be fundamental in the match in progress because in these matches 95 minutes matter.”

Here you go, Inazaghi`s press conference. Do you prefer Inter to be happy or angry?

In this game we will probably know how far this team could go. Looking at the recent CL winners, i still believe that not always the favourite wins the CL. Chelsea was the best example of course, but also Real. Im not saying that we can win the Champions, you should be very very very optimistic to think that. Honestly going far would be already a big archievement for us. With some luck in the draw we could be easily reach the semifinal and once you are there you have on paper a 25% chance to win the whole thing. We will probably face City or Bayern then who are for me the only teams i really fear, and im not saying that we will win against every other team but im going to say that we can beat them with a good perfomance.
We all know that Inter is doing better against big teams this year, everything is possible. Scudetto is gone, why not try the best in CL and at win at least the Coppa? With Juve at -15 and many teams like Atalanta and Lazio being incosisent, top 4 should be easy in the main time, at least on paper.

I would also love to see Inter-Milan in the CL and generelly all 3 italian teams doing well, would be a really interessting change for one time, not always the same EPL and La Liga teams, it's really annyoing to see always the usually Bayern-Psg game or Liver-Real, im not even watching this games anymore. Napoli has a really good chance to go far. In the league they don't have to focus too much with the advantage. Milan at the other side would be also nice because we will get a chance to a CL derby but if they should get eliminated it's also good 😁 Whats also great: No fucking ladri in all of that, hopefully next season too.

Add to that duo Stephane Dalmat and Francisco Farinos and you get the most annoying Inter players in that period for me.
