Skriniar won't be in his prime for another few years, VVD is in his prime now, and Ramos is deep in his injury-prone twilight years. Ramos is a remnant of the previous decade and I rightfully left him out the equation.

I don't want Lautaro to build muscle, I want him to not fall down every time someone merely looks at him. I want him to be able to evade and beat his marker. I want him to be able to instill some fear into defenders and for defenders to consider him a nuisance. I also don't think Lautaro is excelling at anything other than first touch, so I doubt there is much to risk losing or hindering if he attempts to improve elsewhere.

But all this is hypothetical because he will never build muscle or improve. Argentinian football culture makes sure of it, and that's why we can allow ourselves to consider that Lautaro has effectively hit his plateau. He just won the World Cup, that comes with a blank check for ego. We had the same issue at Inter post-triplete when all the treble heroes thought they knew everything and that new coaches can't teach them anything valuable. For Lautaro (and Inter) this world cup trophy will likely have far more negative effects than positive. And ironically enough he barely had anything to do with winning the damn thing.

Sergio Ramos is above average defensively, which is why it's mental that he's indeed one of the top 3-5 center backs of the previous decade.

How can you say that Lautaro who isn't even 26 yet will never improve any of his game ? He's literally been improving every year since he came at Inter and hasn't shown any sign of oversized ego that would make winning the world cup a point where he would stop caring and start declining. The man came back from Qatar saying that despite the victory he wasn't happy about his world cup appearances and has been working probably the hardest in the team since.

Honestly I see minimal improvement, if not stagnation even over the past 3 years.

That finish was majestic. It looked so easy and fluent.

Looked more like a shot made of instinct than thought to me.

That goal was champagne football by Lauti. Put some respect on his name. The guy is such an amazing player and person. We are so blessed to have him, despite that there is so much shit-talk going around his performances.

My Lautaro.

What a goal, seems like his annual drought ended, thanks for taking the hit (or not) Argentina

Goal aside, he was fantastic. I couldn't believe some of the balls he was making stick.
