Imagine being Skriniar, being shopped around by the new management, being benched by the new coach, right after sacking your agent to extend your stay here, rejecting every possible move during this time, earning the captaincy and then being called from traitor to ungrateful, all because said management never bothered to enter contract talks with him on time and instead tried to cash in on him yet again....

Yeap, entirely his fault if he leaves...

Club obviously didn`t offer him a new contract back then because the wage cost would have risen by millions 1 year earlier (and the club is broke).
He is or now was a club asset. You renew to get a better sale price. PSG didn’t offer more because he was in his final year. If he had another 2+, offer could have very much been closer to Inter’s asking price.

Anyway you look at it, this management or board messed up big time.

Leaving for free, now the most probable scenario, because you couldn’t offer an extension 1.5 years ago is mismanagement.

Imagine any of you cost your employer + 50 million, you would probably be sacked.

I did not write that. I was just writing that Skriniar is worth more than 50M and I would not have sold him either for just 50M.

There is still time to cash in on him, if that was the plan. But the plan was to retain and extend him, unless an obscene amount [a la Lukaku] comes in.

Club obviously didn`t offer him a new contract back then because the wage cost would have risen by millions 1 year earlier (and the club is broke).
We tend to overrate our players. For instance, last summer most of the people here were pissed with rumors that PSG offered no more than 55 mln for Skriniar, but in reality this is a fair money for a player in last year of his contract.

What we mostly complained about was that he was in his last year of contract and we hadn't locked him already, especially after losing Perisic and almost losing Brozovic

I don't feel like he's gonna renew anymore, why would he wait this long just to sign the same contract that has been on the table for the past few months......

the only way he renews is if he was planning on renewing this entire time and just wanted to fuck with management a bit since they have been so shit. He probably has already committed to another club by now the news just hasnt spread yet

According to Sky, there's no meeting with Skriniar scheduled for today. Inter have made their offer and they don't intend to increase it. They're just waiting for player's response.

If the management offered him ~6 million per season, and he still is bitching, he is free to leave. He is good, he is a fan favorite for sure, to all of us, but he is not THAT good.

Not irreplaceable. It would be great to extend his contract for years to come, but obviously he knows what he is doing. It's not like he is on hibernate mode. If he wants more money, to play with Messi and that bitch of a human being - Neymar, be my guest.

Not irreplaceable.

Have we really replaced anyone of those who left?

Dzeko is just a stop gap for Lukaku's good version, Dumfries looked like a decent replacement for Hakimi last season but he has been very poor this season and despite Dimarco's improvement he hasn't been anywhere near the level of Perisic. The only one who has been properly replaced is Eriksen with Hakan.

Yeap, if Skriniar went away and we got a decent replacement i really would not care. But these fucks are gonna just use Acerbi as his replacement and renew De Vrij.

Massive disappointment if we can't renew.

Then it becomes a massive fuckup for not selling him last summer. Selling him last summer for cheap would have obviously hurt (according to rumors there was never 65m offer, only 50m or something), it would have meant no targeting Scudetto back then. Now afterwards looking, it would have been the same as it is with him since we're quite far back in the Scudetto race now. But that's hindsight.

CL R16 would have been out of the question probably in that case so there's that. But other than that, it would have been more beneficial to sell and be done with it.

Let's see and hope for the best!

Not that good jet most big clubs outside of italy would gladly offer him more than 6mio...

When psg made their first offer, had Bremer already been sold? If not, that's the fuck up. Bremer was a ready made replacement at a good price. Now we are fucked.

Don't have one.

If we intend to keep inzaghi than buying a cheap skriniar replacement and using whatever money we get for him to buy a quality striker is the way to go imo. As long as inzaghi is here I don't think it matters who plays in defense, it will suck regardless, so just fuckin improve one thing we are doing decently and on which we rely on so much and that's outscoring our opponents.

Of course, we ain't gonna do that because all the people in the club have to pretend correa is a functioning forward, but it's the smartest thing to do with our budget and tactics that are heavily relied on attack.

If I knew his renewal is gonna go like this, I was ok with selling him for 55m last summer. We probably was going to ruin that money by spending half of it on another waste of space, but still it was better than losing Skriniar for free.

I don't know when PSG made their offer.

Right at the deadline rumor was PSG would be offering 65m. Now later I read a rumor there was never an offer higher than 50m€ for Skriniar. But no idea about the timeline.

So basically the management had the two options of either keeping Skriniar or getting 50m last summer, but decided to lose both options just to save 0.5m in salary?

I guess they were banking on getting the renewal done.

Or maybe Zhangs didn't allow extensions in the summer?
