INZAGHI HAS INTER ‘REGRETS’ AT THE JUVENTUS STADIUM

Simone Inzaghi has specific ‘regrets’ over the 2-0 defeat to Juventus, seeing a pattern with their other head-to-head clashes this season. ‘These matches are on a razor’s edge, it’s all down to the details.’

The Nerazzurri were the favourites going in, especially after securing their place in the Champions League Round of 16.
However, they didn’t make the most of their first half opportunities and were caught out twice by rapid Filip Kostic counter-attacks, finished off by Adrien Rabiot and Nicolò Fagioli. The result means Juve leapfrog Inter in the standings and the Nerazzurri are now in seventh place, just one point above Udinese.

“We had a very good first half and you cannot go into the break on 0-0 in this stadium after that kind of a performance,” Inzaghi told DAZN.
“That is where the regrets are. We started the second half well too, hitting the crossbar with Calhanoglu and then conceding on the counter-attack. We lost our unity a little, still had the chances to equalise and then conceded again.
“It’s a painful defeat in a big match against our competitor. This is football, perhaps last season we beat them without deserving it and clearly tonight 2-0 is an unfair result. Unfortunately, these matches are decided by incidents and we didn’t manage to get them our way, so we have to do better.”

Inter had not lost to both Milan and Juventus in the first half of the Serie A season since 1999-2000, but also capitulated in other head-to-head clashes with Roma and Lazio.
“We have to do more in these matches. We cannot fail to take the lead with the chances we create, it is all down to the details, because these matches are all on a razor’s edge.
“We worked for four straight days after returning from Munich on how to deal with these counter-attacks, when to foul early to stop them developing, and both the Juve goals were gifted in those situations.”

Juventus scored with their first shot on goal, which was a Kostic counter-attack from the Inter corner, and the reaction was somewhat frenetic.
Inter have not picked up a single point this season in Serie A from a trailing situation, whereas last term they had made comebacks a regular occurrence.
“It can happen to go behind even when doing really well, and we were too hasty to get back on level terms, we lost our shape and lost our calm.
“This game reminds me of the ones with Udinese and Roma, in the past they might’ve been draws rather than defeats. While we managed to raise our game and be consistent in the Champions League, we haven’t had the same focus in Serie A.”

Inter are 11 points adrift of Serie A leaders Napoli, so what is their objective now going forward?
“At this moment, Inter must focus on becoming more consistent. We were coming off four consecutive victories, we are back on the field in a couple of days and a defeat like this can leave some psychological scars, as it was an important match.
“We had been able to score in 24 consecutive Serie A matches, this time unfortunately we were unable to.”
Shameful result.

I watched the game, haven't read through this thread, but I imagine the club should pay for therapy for all its fans. We lost against, Milan, Roma, Lazio, Juventus. Fun times ahead.

Let's be honest, Inter had no intention of winning this game. The club is content with having qualified for the second round of the Champions League and that is about as far as it goes. We will probably turn our mind to qualifying of next season's Champions League once we are elimintaed from this season's competition.

There are three things that are certain in life: paying taxes, dying and losing in Turin.

Lecce conceded 16 goal so far, better than us (19) , seems like we loved to get banged in the anus this season.

It's another day and I'm still speechless how this team can never surprise me for being worse than I could imagine. For real, I knew it would be difficult because we have historically struggled against Juve, but to not be able even get a point, against their worst team in many years, it's beyond embarassing.

Everyone deserves the blame, but it's mostly on Inzaghi. Such a loser. In these kind of matches you need that aggressive and never die mentality to overcome the situation, but we never seen that against at least half decent teams of the league. He can stick his UCL run to his ass. I couldn't care less anymore even if he drags the team forwardo the final, that wouldn't change my opinion on him as a little bitch.

What hurts the most?

That we are out of the race for the Championship and we're not even half way through the season? Or the fact that we lost in Turin by putting in another piss poor performance.

Fuck this team, our coach and our useless owners.

The thing is that we played better yesterday than when we won last season there. This team is mediocre at best.

The feeling i get after another loss in a derby game is that we are not mentally strong enough to win these hard games, yes we "won" against Barcelona but right now they are bigger mental midgets then we are. We crumbled so fuckin hard after that one counter goal, before that only one team existed on pitch and after there was only Juventus.
Scudetto was lost long before this but i also feel like we are slowly losing all chances for CL, we'll need to win all derbys coz of h2h in second part of season.

We should be fine for the CL zone but Scudetto race is basically dead and gone. And that goes to show that we are settling for mediocrity.

Yeah, feels so bad. How the fuck this group of players are so weak mentally. They switched off after that 1-0 and we conceded fast that 2-0 which was luckily ruled out.

What makes you say "we are settling for mediocrity"? If we don't succeed in something, it doesn't mean we are settling for the failure.

Because last season we managed to bottle the easiest Scudetto ever and we failed to address the problem in the upcoming transfer market. Then new season again the same issues of team. Then it doesn't help when your coach doesn't bother on improving the mental state of the team. The situation doesn't seem promising in this club, for real.

It has nothing to do with post-match emotions because of the defeat, but to me it seems like we are in the middle of nowhere. Situation is worrying though.
