I'm tempted to say whatever happens next won't even make a difference. If we continue with Inzaghi, which I think we will (at least for still a handful of games), we obviously will continue to suck. There seems to be a deep rift between the players and the coach. Inzaghi himself seems to be completely out of ideas and those substitutions today were quite simply bizarre. If we don't turn the ship around asap, which at the moment looks rather unlikely, a top 4 finish is in serious jeopardy.

If we indeed go ahead to sack Inzaghi and appoint a new head coach, I 100% guarantee you that it's going to be someone that absolutely fucking nobody wants to see here. Whoever comes next in this hypothetical scenario is bound to flop.

It's not even about the coach at this point. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the squad just not that good. Yeah okay, we have a few great players, who used to be good until last season, but a lot of the squad is composed of players who were very mediocre at their previous clubs before they came to us like Acerbi, Correa, Hakan, Mkhi, Dzeko etc., who now start every week. Gosens almost never plays, Dimarco and Damian are painfully mediocre. The bench is just a burning dumpster as a whole. That leaves us with a bunch of players, which could do more, but at the moment simply don't.

Long story short: The club's fucked for the foreseeable future. The team either needs excellent scouting or an insane amount of investment to become competitive again, both of which is unlikely.

Inzaghi: ‘Loss to Udinese leaves us perplexed, I’m primarily responsible’

Simone Inzaghi was dejected after Inter’s frustrating 3-1 loss to Udinese, suggesting his team need ‘to meditate on this bad defeat’.

The Nerazzurri took an early lead thanks to a slick free kick from Nicolo Barella, but things quickly unravelled at the Dacia Arena in Udine. An own goal from Milan Skriniar in the 22nd minute drew the home side level, and late goals from Jaka Bijol and Tolgay Arslan secured the win for Udinese, helping them secure five consecutive victories.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Inzaghi first explained why he took over Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan after just 30 minutes of action.

“Because they were booked, Udinese won all the second balls, the duels and we were in trouble. I wanted to give a shock.

“The two of them paid because they were booked, but they should have all paid. Udinese started better and deserved the win, we have to meditate on this bad defeat.”

He touched on the team’s issues maintaining consistency.

“True, we can’t give consistency. We came from two wins, now there’s three away matches in a row where we went ahead and then lost 3-1.

“The main culprit is me because I am the coach, but it will be cause for analysis. We knew what Udinese could do and we had to do more.”

The Italian coach explored the Nerazzurri’s defensive issues and lack of organisation.

“In the last three away matches we have conceded nine goals, last year we conceded them in a whole round. These are individual and collective errors, we have to be more determined, because second balls against these teams have to be won.

“And then we’re lucky to go ahead after four minutes, you can’t play a game like that. Even in the second half, we only finished 1-1, we started better, but we conceded nine corners.

“It’s normal that in the ninth you concede a goal, we have to meditate a lot because this defeat hurts.”

Inzaghi discussed if he still feels the confidence from the dressing room and if there’s any lingering effects from last season.

“Aftershocks no, we had a very very positive season, with two trophies and a Scudetto fought for until the last game. It’s normal that when you’re Inter and you lose three games out of seven you do a lot of thinking.

“Today’s performance leaves us perplexed, bearing in mind that I am primarily responsible, I must do more and better.”

He reacted to the suggestion that Inter’s midfielders are not doing enough defensive work, which could be contributing to their issues at the back.

“There is a concurrence of faults. Now to stop and look at the midfielders is reductive, when you concede goals it’s the fault of the whole team.

“There are individual and collective errors, at 1-1 we conceded a penalty that was our fault, on 3-1 we missed the mark. We are Inter and we cannot afford that.”

Finally, Inzaghi spoke about his expectations against Roma and Barcelona after the international break.

“A few certainties. We hope there will be no problems with all the players out with the national team, we will stay and work with four movement players plus two goalkeepers and many Primavera boys. We’ll wait for those who will be out to reflect on what didn’t work.”

Why sub out 2 players around the 30th minute mark all because of a yellow card? Subbing out players so early because of a yellow shows a lack of trust in the players. Which in turn is very harmful for the moral and structure of the team. It also explains to the players that they can't play on the edge which can often be the difference between victory or defeat....

Last season I saw some promise with Inzaghi, and I thought he and the team would learn from their mistakes. I was wrong, this is worse.. much worse. The people who've followed Inter for some time have experienced this time and time again. I think I can speak for all of them that the chances of improvement are slim to none.

They say Inzaghi gives footballers a freedom.

Handa stares at ball.
Brozo has 5 cards in 7 games.
Guys just running around.
Dumfries looks for parnters during throw ins for 1 minute.
Bastoni Doesn't know where to pass.
Skriniar looks like a disappointed guy who lost everything.
Lautaro in running alone.
Instead of marking the opponent, defenders just look at each other.

Here is your fucking freedom.

And after all this some stupid newbie says that Inzaghi knows football better than me, I have no knowledge to understand his correct decisions and should support him.

he had a 4.5 contract
we renewed it to 5.5 instead of giving him a bonus for cup trophy?
and we claim we have limited and tight budget?

based on his previous games/history
its normal to have this period, he cant easily recover from it

he is a 1.7 ppm, not conte the guy with 2.1+ppm
cant be compared, and his bench is the darker side of inter beside inzaghi

What? He had 2 years extended to a third. His contract is up in June 2024.

Personally I'm befuddled on what is the correct course forward. Financially, according to ownership, we're broke. Paying Inzaghi goodbye monies will only exasperate that problem. Moreover, who's going to sign a short-term contract to take over? Big Sam Allardyce?
The only thing that is certain is that fundamental changes need to occur, playing with a yellow should not mean an automatic substitution. Start Gosens and let him grow with team's starters. Allsani and Bellanova should be first choices as subs in their positions and not limited to vice roles etched in stone.

You don't understand.
We have a Tight budget for leaders like Skriniar, Perisic, Barella, Lautaro, but when it comes to Spaletti, Inzaght and 40 years old guys we are Arab Sheiks and we not only pay them when they play but also when we want to make them leave.

that extention looks worse and worse.
Yeah.

Though it was understandable to do it (give the extension) as usually coaches starting their last season wants guarantees on the future. But the issue was the salary bump. Based on what did he earn that raise?

Silver lining is it was +1 years, not +2 years like with Spalletti. We gave him renewal in autumn in that season he lost the locker room totally.

I can see Inzaghi staying for the end of the season but that's the max he can stay here.

Only a sudden sale of the club in winter can accelerate his sacking. Now hes one of the more unsackable coaches

It's good that he owns up to this but I have 0 confidence he can turn things around.

Last season we still have Conte mentality plus some Players very good at dressing room as example Perisic, Kolarov, Vidal, Alexis, and Rano.

Today, we get bunch new Players, and some of them are kids, and grandpa.

Of course different mentality and attitude.

I don't like to hold him accountable for everything, but he really doesn't help his position. He managed some matches quite terribly so far and confessing his mistakes is not enough when he keeps repeating them.

I won't fire him just for the sake of it. I'll give him a little more time to put his shit together, but his reaction to the current state doesn't look encouraging at all.
