nobody wants Akanji because he demands high wage right?
Not really

Dan-Axel Zagadou (Defense) has earned approximately $1,178,094 gross in his playing career. He last played for Borussia Dortmund (1.Bundesliga) in 2021-2022. All figures are not inclusive of bonuses or incentives. Actual salary may vary. Salary coverage may be limited or incomplete.

We hear from several sources that Manuel Akanji has very high salary expectations and thus scares off potential clubs. Juventus were interested, but the Swiss wanted to earn around 13 million euros per year.

That's obviously gross so around 7m€ net. Ridiculous amount, he's lucky if he's gonna get half of that. Maybe then if he waits for the free agency but then again, if he doesn't play much, how much clubs are willing to pay?

I see Akanji more of a de Vrij replacement then a Skriniar one, in terms of play style, like focus on interception, the difference seem like he is relying on his physicality more to do it rather than anticipation, able to distribute the ball or more accurate description is good long passes, not exceptionally strong 1 on 1, but again strong and fast enough to help him to do body check instead.

Make sense why not every one is going after him, like good solid CB, but nothing spectacular, mainly I would say the mental attributes don't stand out.
Don't mind him here, but won't expect some dominating performances like we saw from Bastoni or Skriniar.

Josko Gvardiol on the other hand, man, you can tell he is going to be world class, but we are broke we got Bastoni already.

Yeah we can't afford quality players anymore.

If Zhang gives us budget and Akanji costs 10m€ in this window, fucking sign him.

We'll end up with someone like Denayer at this rate.

If the recent reports are factual and I've understood them correctly:

1. Akanji is valued at €20m
2. However, due to his expiring contract and no longer being part of Dortmund's project, he is available for just €10m
3. Inter, however, have been advised by ownership that our budget for a new defender is literally €0
4. Therefore, we can not sign even a shitter like Akanji for a measly €10m

Great. Just great stuff all round. Love this club.

The one positive is that Acerbi is under contract at Lazio until 2025 earning €2.5m net per season ( ) That means we can't afford Acerbi either as we'd have to pay a transfer fee. Surely Lotito won't let him walk for free? Terminating his contract would result in a small capital loss for Lazio too.

Then again, considering that Lazio are due to pay him €7.5m over the next 3 years (a near 15m gross commitment), maybe they prefer to take a small minusvalenza hit so they can get him off their books ASAP.

I have this nightmare scenario in mind where we come to some three-way arrangement where Lazio terminate Acerbi's contract for free and we commit to paying the rest of his contract with a 2 year deal at €4m per season. AKA the reverse-Sanchez. Or, knowing us and our cheap ways, a 4 year deal at €2m per season...

Why would they pay 20m for a guy that never in his life showed his capability, he is non stop injured. Madness. Stupidity and madness.

Lol. Did you even watch him play? He's carrying the defense of the Swiss National Team on his own and has played the most games in the BVB Defense last season, keeping them on 2. Place while he had to play with Mats Dummels and Emre Cant under Rose. Let him Partner up with Skriniar and Bastoni and we'll have the strongest Defense in the League by far.

If Akanji would be available for 10m€, I'd definitely try to persuade Zhang to give me that 10m€ for the transfer.

You know you have hit rock bottom when your club is allegedly competing with Monza for the services of Acerbi.

The market for defensive players has been unusual this summer. High demand and low supply of available players. Last season for example, there was not many forwards/ strikers on the market, whereas this season we have seen transfers like Werner for 20M, Dépay being shopped around, Dybala waiting for a club to take him on. This time last year, Inter was short on options to replace Lukaku.

All this to say, the predicament of this summer may change next transfer window. If the circumstances aren’t right, this club should not sell its CBs for halfway solutions.

Monza is one of the only serie a clubs who actually have money to spend so its not so surprising.
