The whole defense is horse shit not just De Vrij. Handanovic looks quite bad , Skriniar is slow and got destroyed with Viliareal with no wingback support. Without Brozovic or a defensive minded midfielder we are fucked. The gap in front of the defense is usually covered by Brozo and Aslani is not that type of player ( he does look promising actually but not as Brozo replacement ). Midfield needs some work but attack looks ok ( just still missing to many chances ).
All in all 10 goals in 5 matches is bad however you put it and we are starting next week. Inzaghi better pull a fucking miracle rabbit out of his ass real fast.

Its pointless to make conclusion based on pre-season friendlies. There are alot of tactical experiments going on that we dont see or know about.

Inters first 11 is still the best in serie a, though that might change with Rubentus super mercato though. Inters backups are still a problem though.

An aging Mhki and some second rate talents in Aslani and Bellanova solves nothing. Also any serious injuries to either Lukaku or Lautaro means inters season goes down the drain as Dzeko is beyond finished and Corea barely qualifies as a football player and should be working at some BBQ resturant.

Handanovic has also looked awful lately, Hopefully Onana will turn out good, though he seems to have questionable football IQ.

In any case, this is a survival season for Inter, regardless what the club says. Retaining top 4 and CL is the main objective.

What tactical experiments? Inzaghi has played with the exact same system and tactics for every single match including when we’ve been losing.

The more concerning thing for me is that football is constantly evolving and we’re not. Pace and power have even overtook technical ability in the modern game and we only have one player who fits that bill and it’s Lukaku. Barella and Brozovic are amazing but it was evident even from last season that they needed a physical presence alongside them and instead we add Mkhitaryan to the mix.

As for the defence look at all the top teams in Europe…they all have one thing in common: at least one quick defender that allows them to play a high line. City keep playing Walker, who isn’t special at anything but the guy is lightening quick and bails them on a consistent basis. Liverpool have Van Dijk, Madrid have Alaba and Militao, Chelsea had Rudiger and Reece James. Heck even Milan with Tomori and Kalulu who really aren’t anything special especially the latter but they’re both quick so could play a high line.

Skriniar should be moved central and get a quick defender on the right. It was evident even last season that he played his best football in the middle as well.

I expected more panic in this forum, so I’m positively surprised (y)

Football is fairly simple game and 50% of that is confidence and focus, rest of that is system and players quality…

I see we mostly lack sharpness, focus and confidense. Our pressing and players position seems to be off and Villareal was on much better on those basic things. Especially our midfield is off and we look really stagnant. People blame defence and sure they need to improve, but I see our midfield as a bigger problem currently.

I really hoped we would have gotten one proper DM as a option, so we could give more freedom to players like Hakan, Barella, Mikhy and little more help to our defence? Players like Brozovic and Asllani (who are good players) can excel against smaller teams, but against bigger teams little more cover would not hurt!

But I’m still calm as we are facing Lecce and Spezia first rounds and beating them might give us some needed confidence? If we fail to get points, I can see the pressure to build up fast and who knows we might be looking for a new coach at january time? If that happens I hope our managment are brave enough to hire coach who use back 4? I see this back 3 system limiting us in field and financially.

People are overreacting and underestimating Villareal. 3 weeks ago I watched Villarreal outplay Dortmund. This loss was more about lack of preparation from Inzaghi. He strikes me as a lazy coach.

Maybe we wait till first few rounds before just drawing some crisi Inter paintings.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 we finished 2nd last season till the 38th matchday and no core player other than Perisic has left, while at the same time we upgraded our no.9 and got some decent young bloods, yet we are destined to be between 4-8. Amazing.

The issue is that we lost the league to an inferior side due to lack of depth. We now have a less deep squad and we cannot predict if players are alienated after the management's stance to sell them (Bastoni, Skriniar, Barella, Dumfries) apart from De Vrij who has turned into a turd since he was told we won't renew him last November.

We lose Alexis Sanchez and his replacement is... Joaquin Correa! So we need Correa to pull off some magic off the bench and he hasn't shown that last season.
We lose Vidal who was a crazy mofo that was underperforming, but he had that something in big games. We replace him with Mkhitaryan who hasn't really been a player competing for trophies for the majority of his career.

Asllani is good on the ball but seemed prone to some crucial errors that our slow defense cannot tolerate much. He's also just a kid, we cannot rely on him.

We have no one if Gosens is out and his fitness level since arriving isn't very encouraging. Ideally Dimarco should be slotted back there.

We have no center backs outside the three starters.

And we still need to make some sales for Suning's appetite and we don't know if that's going to be one of or a combination of Barella, Skriniar, Dumfries, Pinamonti or De Vrij yet. Can we manage to replace anyone in that short notice and integrate them for the first team? Can we tolerate a loss of either Skriniar or Barella without dropping a level?

Just because the season starts early doesn't mean that our mercato has closed as early. Anyone who's pessimistic has every right to be given how we behaved in the last 3 months.

From what I've seen so far, 4th place contenders.

You can only comment on what's going on right now. Few months ago people here lost their tits and were sure that Bastoni was gonna leave and where are we now? Skriniar was all "set" and ready to accept PSG and he's still here. We all can speculate based on tweets that some random ass strangers post saying we are selling this and that and as things stand we are still in an okay shape, definitely not 4-8 position. Napoli lost insigne and Koulibaly, Lazio hasn't really strengthened their team either. Not saying we will cruise to the scudetto but saying we are 4-8 contenders is laughable

In the post-match interview Inzaghi mentioned that they'll be reducing the training workload, in preparation for Lecce. This suggests that the current training scheme isn't conducive to playing games. Hopefully that accounts for much of our lethargic performance.

That's how preseason works.

Who cares, this is only a preseason. The target top 4 was set by owners, not the fans. All our moves on the market confirmed it. If we have a chance, and the others underperforming, we can aim in the scudetto too.

Hope he learns from the last season's mistakes, especially when making subs.
Has to fix the defense.
Onana should be a starter, period.
Has to forget about Dzeko's existence.

Regardless of how woeful Handanovic may perform, there is absolutely no way Inzaghi will change and make Onana our first choice starter. The only way I see that happening is if Handanovic makes numerous blunders that cost us points that will effectively force Inzaghi's hand.

If you want confirmation, all you need to do is look at last season when he persisted with fielding Dzeko in the second half of the season. Remember, it is all about "experience".

The only way Inzaghi will forget about Dzeko's presence in the squad is if Lukaku and Martinez are prolific and give him no reason to consider Dzeko. However, my fear is that Dzeko will inevitably be wheeled out in his wheelchair at around the 70 minite mark of every match to replace one of the starters, regardless of how well they are playing.

Yeah the crazy thing is we will probably see Dzeko on an almost regular basis. I truly believe Inzaghi will sub him on for 20 minutes in almost every match. Or flat out start him in weeks where we have 3 games.

I can't wait for the first match where Dzeko and Lukaku are on the pitch together.

When we're trailing 1-0 to Lecce in the 84th minute?

My only hope is Inzaghi plays Lukaku - Martinez almost exclusively like Conte did. Then we use Correa the way he did Sanchez.
For me, Sanchez has always been an issue with his injuries, his social media Lamborghini / Lion bullshit, and his obscene wages - but Dzeko is simply fucking unusable right now and has been for something like 8 months.

Despite my criticisms of Sanchez, there's no doubt he's been influential more often than not when brought off the bench. We can't replace that playmaking spark with Correa because he's a one-dimensional dribble machine who lacks the vision, creativity or passing of Sanchez.

Limone is a fucking retard for insisting on Dzeko. Considering how this mercato has gone, we should've terminated fucking Dzeko and kept Sanchez instead.
