Is he good enough for the starting role though? If yes then probably a good deal for 18m. Otherwise, should have extended Rano.
Don't know really. I'm reading mixed reviews about him. But if he only has 1 year left in his contract I think we should lower his price as much as we can.

He's actually a good defender. Similar to skriniar before he came here. Very athletic and aggressive. He is also a beast in the air and with hakan set pieces he will grab some goals. Pretty hyped if we can get him and keep skriniar the defense will improve no doubt he would be first option off the bench.

Milenkovic won't come to replace De Vrij, he's coming to play as RCB. If Skriniar stays and Milenkovic comes, Skriniar moves to the middle and Milenkovic takes the RCB spot.
Skriniar needs to move to the middle even if we don't sign him.

I`m not a big fan of this player because during highlights I have noticed lapses in concentration and he lost his man. But for 15M in installments, meh... it seems like the management can`t come up with a better option anyway...

Latest report is that clubs are talking about payment method, Fiorentina wants the entire sum now.

Would rather get someone on a free transfer and get Milenkovic to sign the contract on a free in 6 months time for next summer. This assuming that everyone stays (Bastoni + De Vrij + Skriniar).

I'll believe it, when the photo op of him signing is posted on this forum, else it's just a mirage in the media's mind.

Dude seems clumsy to me. I’d prefer we go for an athlete more in the mold of a Tomori, Rudiger, etc. Our back line lacks a player with speed and athleticism. Milenkovic doesn’t solve that. What made Bremer exciting is with him we could have actually played a higher line.

Tbh playing with a high line looks suicidal I prefer to have someone more dominant in the air like milenkovic read a crazy opta stat that he lead tackle win percentage ill try to find it and post it

I would've prefered giving Zinho a run

Same thing with signing Mki, would've prefered Agoume be given that spot

Milenkovic has struggled since viola switched to a back 4 before that in a back 3 he was great. Wouldn't be surprised if he came he would bench de vrij with skriniar moving to the middle.

Whether our overlords would approve the deal is a different matter.

I fear Milenkovic talk is only for the case we sell Skriniar and otherwise, we just go for some even cheaper option. In this regard 15m is not cheap for us.

Hopefully I'm so wrong.

But you know you're so right. :D

That's the narrative on the media as well. If Skriniar is sold, they will sign 2 cbs. Milenkovic, Demiral and Akanji are the prime candidates. If Skriniar stays, they will go for a low cost cb like Zagadou, Denayer and Acerbi.

Yeah. On the other hand when thinking, we would be looking for Ranocchia replacement. So basically keeping the defence the same is not exactly a catastrophe. We conceded 32 goals last season, one more than Milan or Napoli. So it's not like we need big reinforcements there. It's not like an absolutely necessary thing. De Vrij wasn't convincing last season and yet we conceded only 32.

In the long term and asset management wise it's a different discussion as De Vrij is expiring and probably don't want to give him a long contract, or at least any raise.

What's our plan if skriniar stays? I don't see any for raising x amount of money we obviously have to raise.

You either have to sell a mofo or you don't, and the mere fact nobody from our management could say to ultras he will stay says everything we need to know. This "right offer" bullshit is just false posturing, if everything remains the same skriniar will be sold by the end of the mercato if psg or whoever raises the price by half a mil from that initial price that we rejected from psg.

I think our defense is even better than Milan's and Napoli's, excluding the beginning of the season, where we were playing some suicidal attacking football.

Yeah I agree. Though Milan was a force at the end of the season, not conceding anything. But anyway, not signing Milenkovic is not a great miss like Bremer was.

It would be good for long term, if he was like the replacement for De Vrij (Skriniar moving to middle) so he'd get one season with the team before he takes his place. But like it's clear, everything is dictated by our finances and it seems even Milenkovic is too costly for us.

For the defensive talk, Handanovic is one year older and Onana remains a mystery.

And we have zero, I repeat, ZERO, center backs as backups at the moment.

I don't think there's a concrete plan. Basically anyone who brings an offer higher than 60m will be gone. They preferred selling a cb (Bastoni at first, then Skriniar) because they had already lined up a replacement in Bremer. Dumfries would never bring the required sum alone and there was no obvious choice to replace Barella or Lautaro without dropping the level of the team significantly. Now Bremer is gone, even replacing a cb is going to be very problematic. And the closer we are to the end of the mercato the lower our demands will become. Zhang has set a target and they HAVE to deliver.

Dambrosio, Darmain and DiMarco can all be considered CB backups. Usually thats when a youth player could come in.
