We should have kept him regardless of how he is doing right now. Solid and effective backup.

The mistake wasn't we let Biraghi go. He was a decent backup but he couldn't be anything more than that. The mistake was we didn't sign a proper left wingback to start ahead of Young. People miss Biraghi only because his replacement (Perisic) can't play that role.

the only way we were gonna keep him, tbh, is if fiorentina had swapped dalbert for him, which they didnt want to do.

Please don’t forget our tiny budget. Who is better and costs 12m + 1.7m salary?

Tbh, Biraghi isn't really going to bring anything special either. Better not to waste 12m. I'd rather we saved the money and tried to get someone who could make an actual difference. If we signed biraghi for 12m, we would still need to look for an actual solution to the lwb because its not biraghi

Young is 35yo and his contract expires next summer. So we will need 2 LWB eventually. I’d rather buy Biraghi for now and drop him to backup when we can afford a better LWB.

At least we can use him now. 1 goal and 3 assists already in just 5 matches. Much better than gambling on Perisic.

How long is left on perisic contract do you know? I'd say he is the back up next season also when we sign a decent lwb. Also no talks of it now but if young performs well this year every chance he could get an extension.

We didn't gamble on Perisic. Perisic stayed simply because we couldn't sell him and that's the only role he can play in our formation. It was simply a matter of money. Suning's policy was very strict last summer. No one is coming without departures. They even stopped another loan for Moses because we couldn't offload Nainggolan.

Perisic contract expires in 2022.

Perisic contract expires in 2022.

It certainly feels like we would have been better off trying to develop Perisic into a striker for this formation.

Biraghi just renewed with Fiorentina until 2024.. So there goes the best rotation option available for us in January.

That means we'll either be stuck with Perisic, or more likely, we'll spend €25m on Alonso or Emerson in Jan after Conte threatens to quit, only for him to get sacked in February.

That doesn't even sound like an exaggeration

The Zhangs haven't invested properly since 2020 when they bought Hakimi. Since then it's all bargains and free agents.

For the last three years the same thing every window.

Kolarov came to replace Godin.
Darmian came to replace Victor fucking hell Moses who came to replace the ghost of D'Ambrosio at the RWB.

Biraghi is talking about his situation and just throws some names to show he knows what's going on. These were unrelated moves.
We didn't go for Biraghi because we had Perisic and Dimarco coming and Fiorentina wasn't willing to accept waiting for us to see what we'd do. And Dimarco actually stayed till January. Perisic was the 4/5th forward and eventually switched to the LWB spot. Where Kolarov was also supposed to play at times. And Dimarco. And Young. And Perisic. And even Darmian if needed.

Conte decided on Kolarov as he viewed him as a better candidate for the Bastoni role.

Biraghi doesn't know what he is speaking, but some random fan on internet, knows. Gimme a break.

Biraghi was accurate. We didn't have money, so we went after free agents. The idea of Kolarov was: 1. he is free and 2. He may cover two positions - LWB and LCB, even RWB if is necessary.

Yeah, Biraghi, a left wing back, was replaced by a guy who came to play wide center back and a guy who played right wing back.
All while Dimarco returned.

Come on, eliminate your friggin biases and use your mind.
