Not what I meant. I was simply replying to IL drago that there's nothing new with people losing their shit over nothing. Skriniar has always been a professional whether people's feeling has been hurt by him, he's not like Icardi who would fake injury.

Gds - “Although he is still an Inter player, Skriniar has chosen to follow the suggestions of the PSG medical staff. Before going to Slovakia, on French instructions he flew from Milan to Bordeaux on Monday and was visited in the presence of a PSG staff member."

Well this situation just took another crazy twist:

According to L’Equipe Skriniar’s season is over. My guess is the PSG staff told him to not risk aggravating his injury.

If it’s true fuck this bitch. Judas rat bastard

Didn't you crying that we shall not sell him in the summer?

Yes, which was the right decision.

The wrong decision was to shop him around for 3 years, dismiss early contract talks ans only start negotiating after you told him to speak with PSG...

Letting him go on a free is entirely Marotta's fault and none other's.

Clearly not true. It's on Zhang and his empty pockets. Marotta's fault is that he didn't take those 55 mln from PSG. But, even this is doubtful as there were rumors that Zhang had blocked the sale.

Yes, he blocked it.
It was the right decision.

What followed was a series of bad decisions by Marotta. And Zhang.

You think we would be in CL and Coppa at this point without Skriniar? One could argue that those 55m would be more than our total tally earned from CL campaign this year one way or another but it's not about the money.

Skriniar earned his pay fair and square, he isn't faking an injury, he isn't playing for his NT. The injury is very real. I understand feeling frustrated, and I also understand certain amount of exaggerated comments for the sake of comedic value but there are still plenty of unironic opinions in this thread that frankly make me feel very disassociated as a fan of this club. Some people really do not deserve anything other than nigh retiree age has-beens if this is how you treat players who gave their all for this club.

I didn't say that he faked injury. In my opinion he is just mediocre this season, and if we sold him for 55 mln, we could have gotten Bremer or Milenkovic and still to be ok with some money left. Now, we will lose him for free, and he doesn't make any difference when is fit, provided Darmian replaced him quite well.

The second separated paragraph wasn't a response to your post, just a general comment. Obviously now it's all speculative but even if we sold Skriniar, I doubt we would've landed Bremer, Juve gave him a fairly high salary and I would be suprised if we had a competitive offer. Milenkovic wasn't that great to begin with and wouldn't be an adequate replacement.

I agree that Darmian worked out but we can't stretch Darmian into two different roles, even more so when Denzel has been garbage since Qatar. I don't know about you but I also wouldn't feel too comfortable going into the next season with Darmian as our starting RCB. We don't know if he can do that role reliably long-term.

The problem is that Skriniar is also not so great this season.

Exactly. Milenkovic or Demiral or somebody else. If we sold Skrinar, we would have had a replacement and some money left. Now, we are in much worse position.
We are about to make the same mistake Bastoni with. I love the guy, buy if we cannot resolve the new contract, I'd sell him in a heartbeat in the summer.

Blocking the sale was the right decision? It was the wrong decision because we didn't have the renewal signed. At that point when PSG made that offer we should have sold, no matter what mistakes have been made earlier.

The decision to block the sale was made by Zhang btw.

Yes, the "he" part is about Zhang.

As for selling Skriniar for 55m, I don't care how many years he had left in his contract, it'd be a bad deal. Just because Marotta managed to alienate yet another of our star players doesn't mean that not selling him was wrong.

If anything, the main problem here is Marotta mishandling our players.

He diminished whatever value Nainggolan had, he purged Icardi (at least we got something for him, even if it was a discount of what we could have gotten if he wasn't mishandled), he lost Perisic. Twice, sort of. He almost lost Brozovic. He's losing Skriniar. His bad handling turned De Vrij into a cone. He shopped Bastoni, Barella and Lautaro around for roughly 2 seasons.

How can I not point out the fact that Marotta has a tendency to fuck things up when it comes to our main players?

If this were under a previous regime, we'd be looking to find ways to get rid of Dumfries, Correa, Gosens, Gagliardini and whomever else we deemed unnecessary, and at the same time not lose more key players after that Hakimi sale. But instead we have a firesale that downgrades us. You can blame Zhang, surely, but the executive here is Marotta. People forget that.
