If this is the case, I think the fans ourselves share a chunk of responsibility; pressuring them not to sell.
No. Any fan would have handled this better than what appears likely to occur. Most fans would have offered Škriniar an extension last summer at the latest and not shopped him around.

Same goes for Perisic and Brozovic, most Inter fans saw how important they were for the title winning season.

This debacle is real incompetence. The type where it will hang on reputations.

There were protests year and a half ago in Italy, Suning anyways sold those they wanted to sell.

What makes you think it was shopping around and not also Skriniar not wanting to continue? We held out for too much money. I don’t know 100% but I’m pretty sure we would have been able to get him to sign a new contract if he was willing to take a smaller salary. We were never going to be able to pay 7 million or above, to a defender no less. Again, we should have moved sooner. But most people want to make it seem like inter didn’t want him. Skriniar has the final say in terms of how he wants to proceed with his career. I respect it either way.

Don't try to blame Skriniar, everybody knows how they treated him, he is here because they were not been able to get the sum they wanted.
Now they started this bullshit as they want to keep him and make him a captain, by doing this they are trying to force Skriniar to renew and they will try to sell it again at any first good offer.

This is the truth, everybody knows this and bulishiting about him being mercenary is just idiotic.

Easy for you to say we should have sold him for 50M. Everyone was saying we should stand firm for 70M last summer.

Skriniar has every right to leave not just because he deserves more money. But also because he tried to commit to us before, yet we left him hanging and tried to use him to fund our debt.

Needless to say, very disappointed. But what could you do? Everyone in Italy was obsessed with their China Dream before 2019. There was even a website called vendeaicinesi (sell to Chinese) IIRC.

Fans need to grow the fuck up if I’m being completely honest

This thread is giving me a worse headache than covid. There's no reason to overanaalyze things. Situation seems to be very simple.

Imo Skriniar has decided to move on since last summer. That's why he hasn't said a word about his future in recent months. That's why Skriniar is asking for money he knows he's never getting at Inter. And he shouldn't get it. From a financial point of view our offer is more than good enough. It would be insane to pay a cb 8m/season in our financial situation no matter how good he is. It's disappointing Skriniar is choosing a golden cage that is PSG over becoming an Inter legend but it's totally understandable. This is probably Skriniar's last big contract, money is just too good to refuse and Inter have no future under this ownership. Life goes on. Now it's time to find his replacement.

This should be a lesson learned for ownership and management. When you try to sell your best players every summer they will eventually reach a point where they've had enough and got tired of this circus and want out. Even those who profess their loyalty to the club. People want to feel appreciated, not be seen as solely an asset in a balance sheet. When you choose to play with fire by delaying contract extensions for the last possible moment you will eventually get burnt.

Who wouldn't want out of this joke of a club? The Hakimi and Lukaku sales were just the start of the falling dominoes.

hakimi was out of necessity and Lukaku was our biggest transfer ever..... neither awful deals. Tho I would have never sacrificed Hakimi to me it was Him and Barella everyone else could fk off.

Skriniar is just such a massive fk up by ownership and will make this club even less attractive for players.

Unless once he leaves we put a salary cap. Resign Hakan to lower wages or also say hey this is our max or you can leave. Our wages are fking out of hand for shit players. fking Rano made more than half the starting line up of Napoli and he would play 5 games a season for 5 years. This is why we are broke.

Guys, Skriniar doesn't force his departure, not for loyalty reason but because PSG give him a fat bonus if he signs as free agent. If they promise him huge money to leave now, he will force his way out immediately.

Our fault for letting this get this far to the point where he’s tempted by a big offer.

If we were willing todecline their offer we should have given him whatever he wanted.

It’s sucks… we all wanted him to be a true interista that would choose us over money.

I guess brozo is our real interista.

His apologists are missing the point. Nobody's saying he's doing the wrong thing.

Of course he's acting logically chasing a better payday at a currently better club, but the onus is on the fanbase to shower those who act illogically out of love for the club with affection and not praise people who have other priorities.

Sure, he's a great professional and served us with dignity and for that reason we'll remember him fondly but should he leave on a free after all this drama it'll forever stain his story with Inter.

No point in worshipping someone who leaves despite having the option of staying. It sends the wrong message: we'd be telling players that they can still protect their iconic status among the fanbase despite not showing loyalty.

Its sucks to see beelanistas cheering that we are losing Skriniar, especially after he literally killed Leao in Supercoppa. Its always the same reason, and thats Suning. We need new and healthy owners to start normal life again.

Skriniar has fallen well short of the zanetti golden standard. Wants to be Inter's hamsyk...Yeah right...

Doesn't absolve beppe, ausilio and Zhang from their incompetence regarding the renewal.

You can see thousands of posts in different social media calling him a mercenary. Blaming him in everything, blaming him in betraying Inter.
Sometimes I thinks they simply watched several games, watched videos about treble and now claiming to be Inter supporters. That's their maximum information about Inter.

I don't care about social media nor the general public's opinion about matters unless they're about to vote on stuff.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him a mercenary but I'd say he's excessively professional with a big mouth.

He's certainly no legend.

The Hamsik comparison is absurd. Smaller player, smaller club, smaller money. No extensive history of aggressively, actively trying to force the player to leave, no absurdly lucrative offer waiting on the table tempting the player. Napoli were always trying to improve and build as well. Inter on the other hand is in the middle of an aggressive downsizing.

Keep comforting yourselves by blaming the player though.

This is a dark day.

First huge mistake , contract mistake under Marotta reign. We've come close before. Almost losing Brozovic and repeating the same mistake again with current captain.

This guy is the biggest warrior in our team and he leaves for free. A 70M€ valued player. Serie A's best defender by far atm. Will be replaced with Becao from Udinese or smth.

Skriniar will give his all for 5 more months and out of respect to fans he's not announcing anything yet in public. Been here almost 7 years, its time to cash your golden contract and not many players get a chance to be certain starters next to Messi , Neymar and Mbappe. Im not even mad at him because this is so logical move.

There are certain players that it hurts more to lose and for myself he is one of them. I figured this would get done but sometimes the business side dictates.

Until we get an owner that has some actual working capital this is what it's going to continue to be. That said it bothers me greatly to see him leave for difference of what should be peanuts to a top club.
