He just needs proper rest due to his age. I hope Inzgahi knows how to handle it.

La Gazzetta dello Sport praised Dzeko for his work, underlining his high work rate and ability to be decisive in key moments, noting: “He has football in his head, even before his feet. Perfect for all seasons and all departmental partners, it’s like having three of them on the field. He finishes and finishes, you can even find him in coverage: lucky whoever who has him.”

Tuttosport echoed these sentiments and also drew attention to the Bosnian veteran’s link up play, highlighting: “He picked up from where he left off. In the first half, with a visionary assist, he had packed a great ball for Darmian.”

Corriere dello Sport were equally impressed with the former Manchester City man’s work, touching on his impact throughout the game, saying: “The season restarts with his goal. The header, a specialty of the house, is actually a header, a deadly torpedo on Dimarco’s cross. Throughout the match he is the usual valuable reference in attack.”

Finally, Corriere della Sera agreed with their counterparts, praising his various qualities: “Muscle and brains and a perfect frame, like a true centre forward. When he came off, San Siro held its breath, but it was just cramp.”

Dzeko’s ratings in the Italian newspapers:
  • La Gazzetta dello Sport: 7.5
  • Corriere dello Sport: 7
  • Tuttosport: 7.5
  • Corriere della Sera: 7.5

Calciomercato.com details how Dzeko turned down a recent contract offer from Inter, when they offered him a one-year deal with lower wages than what he currently earns. Although he refused the offer, the former Manchester City man does want to stay with the club and made his position clear.
Dzeko informed the Nerazzurri management that he’d be willing to sign a new one-year contract with the same figures as his current deal, and that he’d like to postpone talks until the end of the season.

The ball is now in Inter’s court and they must decide if they want to continue placing their trust in the Bosnian veteran or not.
So Edin basically works for his next contract to prove his worth. If Inter manage to find funds by summer to increase offer, fine. If not, Dzeko can always join Galatasaray on the same wage.

Watching the game live, I thought Rrahmani was an idiot for losing Dzeko, but this video makes it clear that Edin feigned going to the near post and then quickly switched, effectively losing his marker. This is probably the most intelligent attacking move any of our players have executed in a long time.

The last player who did the same thing was Icardi vs Milan. Man, I miss Icardi's finishing so much

The movement was elite.
Extend Dzeko, trash Lukaku, sign a young striker.

I mean lukaku been injured all season. He played well but had laughable finishing. It was also against the team who hadn’t lost this season….

I think even if big rom scores 30 till the end of the season we can’t redeem him financially

The whole move was elite. Great ball to Dimarco from Mkhitaryan, pinpoint cross by Dimarco looking for the deceiving run from Dzeko, and Dzeko making the deceiving run. Great football.

Dzeko cannot carry the team for whole season as we saw last year. We need 3 good forwards for rotation, not someone inexperienced, who will get 5 min every 10 games.

I hope so because it would make no sense to spend so much, imo. We should aim to spend wisely from now on. If we can extend Edin's contract it would be fantastic because he may be old, slow but he still moves like a true striker and has the right mentality to remain useful in the last stages of his career.

Yeah, Mkhitaryan's pass isn't highlighted enough, it was perfect and Dimarco's cross was his classical blend of great trajectory + power that you just have to get your head on. It was truly a great goal.

If we get another striker, hopefully Dzeko can have a true role of experienced striker playing a few minutes here and there instead of us having to rely on him so often and for 90 minutes games sometimes. Correa and Lukaku being unavailable for such a large portion of the season (+Correa being just dogsh*t) meant that Edin had to step up and I have to say, he is doing a fantastic job.
We should be looking into selling Correa too because he is about to be 29 and is a big disappointment anyway but it will be difficult to do that because he has little to no value. Not extending Lukaku's loan and going for a striker that can play alongside Lautaro (assuming we don't sell him lol) and Dzeko sometimes, with Correa and sometimes even Carboni playing in some sort of 3421 could do the trick.

Renewed Dzeko, Darmian, D'Ambrosio, offered a 2 year extension to de Vrij, even rumors of a possible Gagliardini extension. But no to Skriniar. This club goes out of it's way to ruin itself like no other club in world football.

Thats what happens when u got no money. We will be losing a good player or more every year until we can get new owners. You already know next year Barella and Bastoni will be on the selling block... thats also the time we will finally be sold, when there is no more good players around and the team will once again be finishing 8th. Banter era #2 is very close.

Tbh i am not against it with the season he's having. The issue with Dzeko has always been he plays a lot more than he should.

We've offered extension to Skriniar as well. It takes two to have an extension. The offer might be something Skriniar appreciates but you're trying to twist a narrative here AS IF we wouldn't want to extend Skriniar.

And it's not like we're not offering him a fair deal, the issue is he's having an enormous offer on the table from outside.

Dzeko extension is just fine by now, we are broke af and he's still class and quality.

If Dzeko was the only one of the old boys getting extensions and the +1 was in Inter's favour, I'd be quite happy. We don't have another striker who has that sort of class.

Dzeko? He should get salary downgrade EVEN IF his performances on the pitch don't actually even warrant that. But he's going to have to play less so that will justify the lower salary we're gonna offer to him.

A Higher salary! Grande, Inter can't afford it. I see Dzeko's point, look at the salaries wasted on Lukaku and Correa.
