To the people saying things like "I hope Lautaro uses up his yearly drought at the World Cup instead of at Inter", jokes on you because it's more of a triannual thing for Lautaro, if not quarterly.
Also with him just as with lukaku it s a confidence thing.... I d much rather have him come back high on confidence than struggling and being desperate for a goal

Lionel Messi defended his Argentina teammate Lautaro Martinez after the Inter striker was criticised for his lack of goals at the World Cup.

The Italian press criticised Lautaro for his disappointing cameo appearance in Argentina’s win over Australia, suggesting he was suffering from ‘Lukaku syndrome’.

Speaking to TyC Sport, Messi defended his friend and teammate Lautaro, calling him important for Argentina at the World Cup.

“Lautaro is a very important player for us, he is a striker who lives by scoring goals. Now it is fundamental that he is well in view of the quarter-final and what still has to happen in this World Cup.”

He was atrocious yesterday. I felt 2nd hand embarrassment when he missed that shot that Messi put on a platter for him.

He will pick up his form sooner than later. Indeed he's going through a difficult period, but that doesn't take away his footballing abilities that he's a fantastic player, and above everything, he has a great character.

He's gone through two already this season, we could be on pace to break some sort of record.

Hopefully, like how he overcome his poor penalty kick.

Consistency is still his problem, at Inter we still play him even he's in bad form cz there is no other option. But it's a different story when he got a competitor like Alvarez.

I don't buy that for a second. Let's see how he fares for the rest of the world cup, if he even gets to play. Argentina seems to be doing pretty okay without him.

dropped yet again. looks like argentina have realised if you wanna win big trophies you cant rely on a guy who has scored 3 goals in the last 20 CL matches.
