UEFA typically pay to cover salary while unavailable, that's their primary liability

Pretty much, yeah. There's a cap, but I think basically once Eriksen was injured, Inter didnt pay anything for him & our insurance should have paid out his unamortised book value.

Speaking at a press conference with the Danish national team, as reported by FCInterNews, the 30-year-old looked back on his time in Serie A.

Eriksen spent just a season and a half in an Inter shirt, before health complications forced him to leave the club, as the cardiac implant that the Dane is fitted enough is now allowable under Italian health and safety regulations.

The midfielder’s time at the Nerazzurri was a positive one, however.

Eriksen did not establish himself right away, but grew into the team before becoming an important part of the Serie A title win of the 2020-21 campaign.

As the 30-year-old revealed, he was also happy at Inter and in Milan before being forced to leave.

“Honestly, I enjoyed my time in Italy a lot,” the midfielder looked back
“I would have liked to stay and continue my career there.”

“We’re talking about the season before the Euros, I was playing still in Italy, but then obviously the circumstances changed a lot,” Eriksen reflected.

Eriksen stated that “Italy and Inter always made me feel good, and my family were happy there.”

“I was very comfortable at the club

Eriksen: ‘Sorry Kjaer, but I hope Inter beat Milan in Champions League’
Christian Eriksen confirms he’ll be cheering on his old club Inter against Milan in the Champions League, ‘even if I’d be sad for Simon Kjaer,’ and would’ve gladly stayed with the Nerazzurri if Italian rules had allowed his ICD.

The midfielder was receiving the trophy for best comeback at the Laureus World Sports Awards this evening, a prize for his return to the field after suffering cardiac arrest during Denmark’s EURO 2020 group game against Finland in June 2021.

He was revived on the field, in part thanks to teammate Kjaer’s quick response to provide initial CPR, and then given an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) that would restart his heart if another arrest were to occur.

The Italian rules ban someone with this type of implant from participating in any sporting activity, so he had to terminate his contract with Inter and move to England for first Brentford, then Manchester United.

I am not angry with Inter at all, leaving was simply the only option because the rules in Italy are different to England and I could not continue my profession there,” Eriksen told reporters.

“I wanted to get back to playing football and I did what I could to make that happen.”

He was at Inter from January 2020 to December 2021, making 60 competitive appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing three assists, winning the Serie A title under Antonio Conte in 2020-21.

“I had some great moments at Inter and have good memories of the club. I hope that my ex-teammates can beat Milan in the semi-final and reach the Champions League Final, even if my friend Kjaer plays for Milan. I’d be sad for him, but I still hope Inter go through.”

Kjaer not only provided initial CPR that day, but also got his teammates to stand around the medical staff to shield him from the cameras and then comforted Eriksen’s wife who had made her way down to the pitch. The first leg of the Champions League semi-final is at San Siro on Wednesday evening, as one of the two Milanese representatives will be in the Final in Istanbul against either Real Madrid or Manchester City.
Grande Christian! :proud:

10-20 years from now future inter fans will look back at this and think Eriksen was the pratoganist for our 2021 scudetto. He played his part no doubt. But then in that case Kaku, Brozo, Defry and Perishit deserve a place also...

Meanwhile R9 with 2 Ballon dors, 1 uefa cup, serie a player of the year, uefa player of the year, a fifa world cup mvp, he more than meets the criteria. What more needs to be said?

Didn't fadiga have a heart condition when we signed him ? We need some sort of criteria for LGI that everyone can consent to. Trophies, seasons MVPs, goals/assists, appearances, etc. Likeability isn't a measure we should consider for legendary status.

Like with most of the Hall of fame, we should vote when player is retired or at least year or two not in the club...
I back up for deleting the thread, set ground rules and start from zero

Sure it is.
Then Dumbo and Darmian are LGI worthy without a doubt. Palacios, J Cruz, Hakimi, Rafinha, etc. Where does it end?

What's the issue with Palacio? Dude was one of the few highlights in our banter era and fully deserves LGI

I think people were sentimental during the voting as memories of his heart failure were still fresh.

Should be removed from LGI, maybe we can revote
