I've just noticed that before Dumfries to score the winner, the ball passed through the Dzeko's legs, and behind Dumfires was Lukaku, who was also waiting.
I'd half started to scream obscenities at Dzeko before, thankfully, Dumfries arrived like a freight train.

Lukaku was doing a Shaktar as usual i.e. "wtf is he doing there". If that flicked on header from Lautaro landed to him instead of Dumfries, he wouldn't have been remotely prepared for it. Long-standing issue with him but he needs to be more anticipatory for these scrappy opportunities.

Skriniar made two defensive errors for Leece´s goal. He fails to intercept or control the ball in minute 47.17. And then tried to play the offside trap instead of tracking back to cover the overlapping run of Ceesay.

If De Vrij made these mistakes yesterday, members here would have skinned him.

Why I miss Conte:

- The hard work & discipline on the pitch - everyone worked just a little bit harder under Conte

- The exact same defence looked so much better drilled & organised under Conte

- Conte wouldn't have allowed Perisic to leave without a proper reinforcement. He would have raised hell publicly, most likely Perisic wouldn't have left if Conte was still here. Inzaghi is is a bit of a management pet. I bet Gosens would've had a better game yesterday if Inter had kept Perisic or brought in Udogie or Kostic. Competition for places is sometimes underrated. Look at Brahim Diaz. He probably had his best game for Milan, just when Milan bought CDK & Adli to give him some competition.

- Conte knew how to use Lukaku, building his team to exploit Lukaku's strengths. Inzaghi is trying to fit Lukaku in his system, a bit like what Tuchel tried to do at Chelsea. I hope it works as Lukaku is familiar with Martinez, Barella & Co, but so far it isn't working well despite the goal. Its too early to judge, but there is a fear that Lukaku may not have the same success at Inter as before.

I could go on, but you get the gist...
Brahim Diaz?? Off all the examples you pick him. Guy had a good first month last season as well and then was crap for the rest of the season. Don't see how one decent performance proves him being better now.

Especially that decision to play Ceesay offsides was baffling... Just as he recovered from his first mistake he decided to back off and leave it to dimarco who had no chance to get there....

Does anyone else think that at 85 min, a penalty should have been given for Inter? The Lecce defender was pulling Dzeko's shirt from the very beginning to the moment, when he fell down.

Yes. Was a clear pen. Defender grabs the shirt and never let's go.

Italian referees are very consistent in that you can tug on the opponent's shirt in the box. I can think of numerous examples where this hasn't been called.

It was also such a pathetic attempt at a dive by Dzeko that I would hate to see him rewarded for it.

Italian refs being incompetent doesn't make it not a penalty.
IFAB rule 12 is clear holding an opponent is an offense and should be met with either a free kick in general play or a penalty if in the box.

Dzeko diving doesn't make it not a foul.

It's like a speed limit. Sure, the posted limit is 100 km/h, but police don't actually enforce the limit unless you're going 130. Italian referees never call it a foul, so players continually do it.

It’s very earlier days, only the very first game ffs — I never pay any attention to pre-season — so let’s hold off with the negativity for now.

Although, that mercato or lack of is a cause for concern.

Doesn't make it right makes the speed cops incompetent. Same as here its a foul but refs are incompetent when awarding pk's for shirt pulling...

Yeah, but that's on refs and not on players. Of course you try to get the penalty if you are being pulled from your shirt by two hands. It's very handy way to decrease attacker's speed and basically stay in close range. It's incredible how poor the refs are with these ones.

Exactly. It's very effective while it's visually not so "flashy" foul compared to let's say a tackle to the feet.

Watched the match afterwards and the first 45 mins looked great. But man we need to score more. We got Lukaku for that and maybe he doesn't need to be the scorer, but someone needs to score. Second 45 mins wasn't that good and were stunned with the equalizer. In the end we had 4 forwards in but had no fucking clue what to do but lob aerial balls to the box, many times by Bastoni etc so they weren't even diagonal/horizontal crosses but vertical lobs.

Inzaghi needs to focus on this, how to unlock these kind of defences.

Ref was terrible in the first half and missed three yellows to Lecce. Yellow to Hjulmand right in the start and it would have set the tone of the officiating right there. But he didn't give it so it gave Lecce a freedom to try to murder our guys.

In my view, we played great first 20 min, then switched off till the equalizer, and woke up around 70 min for the final push.
