What about if the problem with Agoume is not whether he is better than Gagliardini, but rather Inzaghi's inclination to prefer experienced players over youth?

I think the club has realised that it is better for our young players to be away from Inter getting regular minutes than sitting on the bench here. If you think about it, he has only really had a single season where he got regular minutes (at Brest). It is too early to be dismissive of Agoume and casting him away.

And just another thought, why does a player, in this case Agoume, necessarily need to be better than another player (Gagliardini) to sit on our bench?

The problem here is that there is absolutely no patience and all or nothing approach: the player has to either be better than our existing bench players or they are automatically cast away and need to leave.

For me, it is not about whether he is better than Gagliardini or any other player on the bench. It is about whether the club sees enough potential ion him that will allow him to get a footing or gain experience in our starting eleven. If the answer to that question is in the affirmative, then a player should be allowed to stay and develop in their own time without comparisons to other players on our bench.

You need to keep in mind that an answer in the negative and the decision to loan a player out is not simply down to the fact that they do not have the ability. It in all likelihood has everything to do with the fact that the emphasis here is on results and competing for the championship.

Accordingly, there is very little patience and only marginal room for error (as last season showed). Perhaps the club recognises this and realises that the development of our young players would be better served in a calmer environment rather than fishbowl environemnt that comes with playing for Inter.

More often than not, there is a middle ground. It does not always have to be all or nothing, great player or shit player, positive impact versus negative impact.

Agoume has only just started his career. He is 20 years old and yet there are posters on here that are already judging him as a professional.

Just a question: are you a better employee now in your given field than when you first started out? If so, why can't we extend the same courtesy to our young players rather than expecting them to be prime-Ronaldo at 20 years of age.

If Agoume is not better than Gags (he probably isn't), if he sits at Inter bench he won't play much. I'd say it's better for him to play in Ligue 1 week in week out like last season.

The last question is just a ridiculous exaggeration like most of this forum these days. It's not good for young kids to sit on Inter bench and not play much (because coaches do not trust them). If coaches trust them, they will play, like Asllani. Agoume is clearly not trusted at this point.

Cafe, I do not think the last question is ridiculous. All I was trying to say is that when your first start in a job, there is a steep learning curve. The same goes for being a professional footballer. Obviously, the Agoume we see today is not the finished product and he will need to develop.

Ah yes sure. But Inter is not the place to learn the profession and develop. Unless you are at certain level like Asllani.

because look at how people laid into radu after he made a mistake, for example....

you can only develop the absolute best talent at a club like inter

With all due respect that is a really shit example.

In that case, a Championship was on the line. It was not some insignificant match where the result did not count. Radu got everything he deserved and he is far from being a youth product.

As I posted in another thread, the number of games where we are comfortable enough to play youth is about 6-8 a season, by the looks of what happened last season. You're fucking insane if you think we can just casually play and develop youth players like that. We're competing at the top level, EVERY GAME IS A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Last season was decided by 1 win difference. Two years before, the CL was also decided by 1 win difference. That's the reality of top level football. One slip from Agoume, one mis-pass, one penalty given away, and you'd all treat him the same as Radu.

I like how youngsters making mistakes at Inter is bloodshed as if he fucks up at Brest/some other shit team and gets relegated the fans will be fine with it like "fuck it we don't really mind we're not that good"

the problem is the uncertainty - Agoume might be a Pogba, he might also be a Palombo. At Inter, that difference is between a starter for the first team vs someone who isnt good enough to make our bench.

At Spezia, Palombo is good enough to be a starter, so any improvement ontop is a bonus

Exactly this. Inter is simply not a place to learn the profession at top level.

Perfect example is Asllani. He's young af and we simply signed him because we think he's ready, he doesn't need to learn the profession at top level.

If Agoume was ready why would we have signed Asllani? We need to trust our coaching staff, scouting and management that they can assess if these young players are ready or not.

I don't know about you blokes, but I got better at my job by working with people who were (and still are) better than me.

Just keep the lad here for a season and see what he can do in this environment.

You get better at your job by working with people better than you, but also by actually doing your job. Game time is the most important thing with development - the risk of him not getting gametime here outweighs the rewards if he is here to develop, vs him going out on loan

aye, and 'doing your job' means being on the pitch really for these guys. Game time trumps training time.

Agoume needs playing time at correct level for his development. Inter is not his level yet.

Does anyone know what’s happening with Agoume?

Has his loan deal back to France gone through or is he still with us?
