they just sold Romero for 55M.
Yeesh. At least Romero has youth and room to grow into an even better footballer so you can justify the price. What you see with Zapata right now is what you get. He’s not getting better at 31. He’s not Luca Toni.

I have hope that Zapata is just smokescreen and lots of news saying we only get 40 mio budget is just smokescreen from Marotta so other clubs will not milking us. Please God, is that too much to ask?

I just hope this is a master plan from Don Beppe to get our real target in peace because even if Zapata had the same characteristics as Rom it wouldn't make any sense , Inzaghi's tactics are totally different than Conte's. Or we are just dum.

I have nothing against Zapata as a player and I don't mind him at Inter, but how do we have the ability to spend 40m on Zapata and can't sell someone like Perisic (and others) for the same amount? If Zapata was an Inter player I'm sure that we'll either sell him at 20m (with bonuses at best) or terminate his contact and let him leave for free. We'd never be able sell him for 40m.

I think we should offer Atalanta something around 20m and look for someone else if they refuse (which they will).

I believe it's just one word -> desperation

so far I dont think there is another club wants to buy Zapata, and we are desperate to buy him to replace Lukaku. Yes I called this panic buying.

And also for Perisic, it is also there is no serious club after him, and we might also "desperate" for waiting anyone to bid him.

When you sell your best striker late in the transfer window, this is what happens. All that sweet plusvalenza thrown down the drain on a knee jerk replacement.

Salary is the key. Atalanta can sell for big bucks because they never keep high-salary players, combining with excellent scouting to find hidden gems with peanuts. Buyers will have more fundings to pay for the owner.

While at Inter and fif, people care too much about players' happiness and contracts. You tend to give players whatever they ask, just to keep them here. But all forget boosting such "deserved" salary will kill the selling power of our own club.

Well that's is because Inter hasn't been a selling club for ages. Only now we've turned to one. Salary differences are drastic. That's the point of being a big club. Big clubs pay big salaries so big players want to join to the club. That's the whole logic. If you are the big club, expectation is they pay big salary there. Why any player would join Inter if we didn't pay big salaries?

Also Perisic is two years older, played as LWB last season, doesn't score or assist anywhere near what Zapata does.

Not arguing the philosophy is right or wrong. Just to point out for the above post, that you have to choose between one of the two: either a selling club like Atalanta and keep all salaries low; or a big club fighting for trophy and accepting the factor there would be a lot of unsellable deadweights in your club.

Criticizing the management and being jealous with Atalanta’s selling capability is a bit unfair. You can’t have both.

But who will we get instead since with all these EPL clubs and even Atlético sniffing around we won’t get Vlahovic. I hate to say it but Zapata might have been our best option.
