There's nothing goal related. It's all about the points.

The only equal points scenario we get is with Gladbach provided they lose. If they win, we go 2nd with 8 points while we leave Real and Shakhtar behind with 7 (and Real stays in Madrid, while the Ukrainians go to EL)

We need to win vs Shakhtar and we need the other game to end up with a winner. We'll end up 2nd no matter what in that scenario.

If the other game ends up with a draw, we lose on H2H to Real Madrid as we had 2 losses. Both of us will have 8 points.

If we could beat Borussia, there’s no reason Real cant. Real will do everything to win, they will never let themself play in EL, even if it means buying the refs. This is not the issue.

The issue is, will we even win against Shakhtar at home, especially with the Ukranian side have a little hope of qualifying? I cant help but think of the PSV game two years ago.

Thing is, and I realize Brehme covered this as well but I just want to write as well...if that game ends in a draw, then BMG is on 9 points, Real on 8. If Shakhtar beat us, they're on 10.

So Real doesn't have option of going into the game playing for a friendly draw. Maybe it'll evolve into that - as Firmino points out, we really can't afford to smash Shakhtar out of the gate because that'll take all the pressure off the other two - but that won't be the way they can begin the game at all. And, in a perfect world, Gladbach does what they did in the reverse fixture and runs out to an early lead, preferably multiple goals. Gladbach may be fine with a draw, but it only takes a Shakhtar win over us and Real beating them and then, suddenly, boom, out go the Germans.

^Shaktar draw with us is enough to kick Real out if they draw vs Gladbach. Shaktar has head-to-head advantage with same 8 points.

Because we're Inter, there are only four real possibilities ahead of the final match day:

1) We draw to Shakhtar despite Madrid thrashing Gladbach

2) We dominate Shaktar and are eliminated by a Modric equalizer in the 90th minute

3) We secure qualification to the next round via a Gagliardini stoppage time goal, only to promptly draw Bayern and go out 4-0 on aggregate in the first stage of the knockout round.

4) Conte, Lukaku, Martinez, Handanovic, and de Vrij all contract COVID on Saturday during a draw against a ten-men Bologna

No other conceivable scenario exists.

2 except I'm convinced it'll be Gladbach to equalize in stoppage time (Plea most likely).

1 is also pretty likely lol.

Defending continues to be a major issue but at least we looked good going forward. Rom was fantastic. Now let’s get those 3 points against Shakthar and hope for the best.

Yesterday we played a great match! We just missed the control in the last minutes, fearing for a fucking draw!

But fortunately we won the match, now win the next match please!

Lukaku has been wonderfull yesterday, a monster! But everyone has played a great match (excluding Handanovic as usual....).

it's a shame that there is no possibility that Shaktar and Inter could pass together the group. Hate Gladbach and Real so much. Even more if they will draw next week, this would be disgusting, specialy because of Real that would accept a second place.

Damn, we finally managed a win but it is Pazza Inter. Thus, I am really scared of the final round of league games. It would be so great to play knockout stages after long.

I hope that it is either a top 2 finish or last place for this season. Lets focus only in Serie league if there is no further Champs League for us.

It will be very difficult to accept, if the team this time will not go to the playoffs after disappointing matches with PSV (2 seasons ago) and with Barsa juniors (last season).
