This is why I'm afraid. We hide the reality behind the result.
We play bad. Both team. But Tottenham is not fucking my problem.
We can pull sometimes victories out of our ass (or better say, Icardi's ass), but I don't buy it. We were bad, I mean fucking bed.
We lost already 8 points in 4 games. And it was suppose to be a easy schedule

I watched the game last night. Admittedly, I fell asleep for a while in the second half before Tottenham's goal and woke up around the 66th minute or thereabouts.

I have read through most of the posts on this thread. It goes without saying that each supporter watches a match with their own eyes and assess it accordingly. Some are more kind with their assessment whilst others are more critical. I read most of the thread before watching the game last night. From what I read on here, I thought the game sounded like a complete shit show but when I watched the match I felt a little differently about it.

Defensively, I thought we strangled the game. The high press and our intensity at the back was impressive. With the help of our midfield, we managed to contain and limit Spurs really well and I think our efforts were all the more impressive given that Skriniar was playing out of position and we did not have a recognised right back. Not to mention the fact that many of players were playing in the Champions League for the very first time.

However, what most concerns me is our lack of incisiveness in the final third. We know how to get the ball down there but are really struggling with our final execution. I am hoping that will improve and change as Perisic, Nainggolan and Icardi reach full fitness but I am still not convinced. Our build up play is predictable, not very well structured and seems to be scattered in its approach. It feels like there is a alot of improvisation but very few certainties in relation to build up play and how we execute and finish.

Perhaps the most puzzling thing for me is that we took this scattered approach for the first 80 or so minutes of the game and then all of a sudden started playing. I do not feel that we are a shit team or that we do not have it in us to play coherent team football. I think we can play but our problem is unlocking the right mentality and approach to a game and being able to play like that for a full 90 minutes.

Why were we more focused and why did we only play with more urgency in the last 15 or so minutes of the game than we did in the previous 75 minutes? In my view, it is not simply down to the fact that we were staring into the eyes of defeat. Did anyone notice Spalletti's body language and how livid he was at times with the way we were playing? I feel it is a question of preparation and mentality and I feel that our struggles this season are tied up with tired World Cup players, injuries, and in some cases like Nainggolan, a general lack of fitness and integration. I do not think that our struggles are related to not having a team/squad that is up to the task. I think it is more to do with not having a plan when we go out to play. Having said that, I do think that we need a creative midfielder to help us along. Valero is not enough to get us through the season and this is something that will have to be addressed and remedied in January.

The Icardi goal was wonderful. You could attempt to recreate that cross & one time volley 100 times and convert it maybe once or twice. This is why we love the game

That maybe Suarez's conversion rate, but this is Icardi we are talking about.

I am afraid this result can delude us into believing we are some hot stuff but we are really very poor.We have been poor in the 5 games we have played this season. And the truth is we have been this poor since December last year. Its really the same form.Spalletti in his post game press conference didnt seem to pay much heed to how poor we really are.Perhaps we will use this win to start playing better or atleast start winning games and gaining more confidence but somehow i just dont see that happening. Therefore i really cant disagree with those English "pundits" when they termed us bang average because that is really the truth even if we can term them ignorant and get away with it.We cant hide behind our "Pazza Inter" boys. This performance simply cant be repeated. We must do so so so much more.To get the perfect start score wise and still end up bottom of the group would also be a "Pazza Inter" thing and judging by Spalletti's track record in Europe that is a very real possibility.

PSV were not as bad as that scoreline suggests and i wouldnt be surprised to see them beat us and probably even progress from this group.I expect them to streamroll us in Eindhoven if we play like this and they play the way they did for an hour against Barca. They can really hurt us.

im not sure if Inter can win both matches again PSV and get some points against Tot away and Barca. But after that match we also have to see if Tottenham can make this too. It will be interesting...

Tim Sherwood says Tottenham should have beaten ‘average’ Inter Milan. they’re 15th in Serie A for a reason, because they’re bang average.
Hargreaves: "I was thinking of a mediocre Inter, Tottenham had to win"
i cant say how much i hate english commentators and managers, they are just shockingly idiot. they live in isolate world that they just watch epl games and think yeah this is best league in world. in which world fucking spurs considered a top team and inter average one?! one of them last night said this is first time i watched icardi in a live match! fucking morons.
It's the same in Ireland, and we're not even English.

Spurs are at 9 points after five games, we’re at 4 points at 4 games. Obviously that means we’re mediocre and they’re special. :work:

Anyway, two wins against PSV and a draw away at Tottenham should get us the 2nd spot, Barca are going to ruin everyone. But life is never that simple here, still very excited to see us play Messi & co.

I really think we played good in the first half, they are a top 15 team in the world, and their coach stated that they played their best game this season. We are not there yet, but we can beat anyone, we just need to get in form to play 90 minutes like we usually played 45 minutes in every game this season except against Sassuolo, we were really bad vs them, during the whole game, I might think you people expect too much.

Anyway, on the negative note I think we wont win both games vs PSV, and we are playing our third and fourth game vs Barca, and Tottenham plays with them in the last game of group stage, where Barca will probably already secure the number 1 spot, so even with our win, our chances to qualify for the knock out stage are still 50-50.
