In the end Scolari succumbed to public pressure I think. He was getting shit for Brazil's negative tactics, so he decided to try to be attacking by replacing Neymar with Bernard for the Germany game instead of playing three CMs in 4-3-3, which considering Germany's superior squad would've been the safer and smarter choice.

But Scolari can't be blamed for Marcelo pushing up like crazy (unless he told him to) or Fernandinho dawdling and losing the ball like an idiot. And it's not his fault that Fred is probably Brazil's best striker atm or that Brazil are lacking top-class playmakers.

Scolari can be blamed for thinking that, just because this team had won the Confederations Cup, it would suceed at World Cup.

Scolari who chose to keep playing Fred and not giving a chance to Diego Costa (before Spain called him) and not bringing Lucas. Team organization and tactics (or lack of it) are also to be blamed on him, including the non-existant midfield from the very first match.

Your team of the tournament people? Name the best 11..

--------Müller----------Robben
--------------James
Blind---Kroos----Mascherano---Lahm
-------Hummels--Vlaar--Yepes
-------------Neuer
Subs: Ochoa, Navas, De Vrij, Garay, Marquez, Rojo, Aurier, Gamboa, Schweinsteiger, Messi, Benzema, Neymar

So glad it's over. Probably the worst WC I saw after that scandalous 2002 bull crap. & why you might ask? I don't know where to begin:

- The way FIFA decided which teams will be group leaders in the draw. Fucking Switzerland, Urugay, Belgium as group leaders & not Italy & Holland. Because why not punish them for not losing a single qualification game.

- So manyyy errors, so many god damn referee errors. Embarrassing for a World Cup. (which in my book has now much lower quality in every sense compared to lets say, the Champions League) You have errors in CL too, but not every single fucking game in & out.

- Low quality games. Boring, predictable knockout stages. Costa Rica, Algeria, Belgium... come on, eh. Who seriously wants to see these dudes in a World Cup knock out stage? & then Holland puts one on top & can't even beat Costa Rica.

Massive palm overall in my book :palm: & then comes Germany & wins the final, in a game they didn't deserve to win. Although keeping the overall tournament in mind, the title was deserved.

So, FUCK THE WORLD CUP &...

...let's dump this entire WC shit in the FIF garbage & get back to our dear Inter. I so miss my Inter.

LOL. Whether you like WC or int'l football in general is up to you, but you're forgetting how dull 2006 and especially 2010 were.

There was some great stuff here. Upsets, historic defeats, plenty of quality football all around. And I don't think the refereeing was particularly terrible. There's always going to be errors in games judged by humans.

Not sure why you're knocking CR, Algeria, or Belgium. Costa Rica deservedly topped their group with smart football, and Algeria played excellent stuff in the group stage and pushed Germany to the limit. And not by parking the bus, either. Belgium dominated the US and should've won 3-0 or 4-0 in normal time. (btw, i find it hilarious that you guys complain that the same big names will always be helped by FIFA into the KO stage, and when they don't make it, you complain that the upsets play shitty football)

This was a very good WC, much better than the snoozefest that was 2010. The only thing I disliked was how the underdogs did brilliants but just kept falling inches short, Chile, Mexico etc.. All were within few minutes of going further.

But apart from that, it was a good one. Barring Germany, no team was really strong which led to good matches.

2006 was boring? What tournament did you watch... That goal by Del Piero against Germany had my andrenaline through the fucking roof, right after Pirlo's amazing assist to Grosso.

Or Zidane leading France to beat a Brazil of Ronaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Adriano....

This tournament I admit wasn't as big as a snoozefest as 2010. But compare the individual lineups from early/mid 2000s to today.

Only Spain and Germany have improvements. Italy, Brazil, Portugal, France, England, and arguably Argentina all have worse individual quality.

Disagree, you want to see top teams at their best, not pairs of average teams playing out tedious 0-0 draws over 120 mins because neither are good enough to score.

Lionheart is just salty that Italy got knocked out early and Germany won, but I agree with him on the whole. After the really great group stage the goals dryed up badly. A tight 0-0 every now and again is good, but not every fucking game.

Very predictable too. In almost literally every knockout game the favorite won in the end. Was no real great players either. No one that will actually be remebered. James rodriguez came the closest, but then he couldnt inspire his team to beat the worst brazil side of all time.

Am I really the only one that haven't seen a Über-Mannschaft winning the World Cup?!

I mean it was deserved by Germany but beside two great performances against two teams falling apart after the second goal I also remember average performances against Algeria or Ghana or games on equal footing against Argentina or France.

The teams were at their best. Some teams played beyond their individual talents, Netherlands for example. Barring 1-2 odd cases like Spain, each team did as well as they are.

Like it or not, the gap between national teams has reduced. Not many thrashings are expected now.

For predictability, that hurt me as well. But it wasn't predictable in the way that the stronger team won 3-0 over the weaker team. It had to fight it's way till the last minute to win, and that is what good matches or tournaments are about.

Because of this "Gaucho-Dance" the whole "intellectual" press in Germany goes wild: Once more Germany shows its ugly face, they think the world belongs to Germany, they see people from Argentina as subhumans, this whole flag-waving-stuff is sooo radical right-wing ... :palm:

Also, mocking Neymar for the injury (your sign) is also disrespectful.

I guess you, among all people, would feel sorry for him after the (very recent) injury of Falcao.
